Maytag refrigerator leakig from the door. appliancerepair

I have a Maytag Dual cool refrigerator, with a top freezer. It started leaking, so i shut it off, and i saw that the freezer wasn't as cold as usual. And i realized that the water leak was coming from the freezer door. I removed the door, and i did see that the door was leaking, nothing else. No water inside the freezer nor the refrigerator.

I put the feeezer door in the tub to let it dry. A few hours later when i went to put back on the fridge, it still has some water dripping out of it..

I don't get why the door would be leaking. It has no frost on it whatsoever, it isn't even cold anymore (after a few hours).

Am i right in thinking that the door is the problem? And is so, why is it leaking and what can i do to fix it?

Help with refrigerator issues [LG] appliancerepair

I have a new LG fridge, after sometime i decided to defrost it. It has a push button defrost . After this happened and since that time, i hear clicking noises and water sounds constantly . It almost seems as if the defrost timer is stuck? If i open the freezer i hear water sounds like water moving . Its been this way for months now, any idea whats wrong? Is the defrost stuck on? The button popped out once the defrost completed.

Ive tried unplugging it and plugging it back in no success, still clicking sounds and water sounds all night

Moldy Freezer, how to clean ice maker? appliancerepair

I just moved into a house and the refrigerator has been turned off for months. Black/green mold has been growing in the freezer. I've cleaned it all out using a bleach cleaner and have a replacement freezer seal on order. So, stupid question, how do I know that the ice maker is ok to use? Is there any way I can clean it? Anything else should I do to get this fridge clean?

Kenmore ice maker not making ice appliancerepair

Hello, I have a Kenmore Elite refrigerator (model 79579043310) that is no longer making ice. I tried unplugging it and defrosting the water line and it did not help. When I try to manually cycle the ice maker, it beeps at me but does not turn at all. Do you all have any recommendations? Thank you.

Refrigerator Purchasing Help appliancerepair

I'm looking for a new refrigerator for the family and I'm always very interested in a service technicians prospective. Reliability and low cost of repair are of the highest priority.

I've narrowed it down to a french door model from LG, GE, or Samsung. I would like an ice maker, and possibly a front door water/ice dispenser.

Which of these brands do you recommend and what would you avoid? Are there any features which are prone to failure? Any other advice is certainly welcome.

Help! Amana refrigerator condenser fan stuck appliancerepair

My condenser fan in my freezer isn't turning. No obstructions, not frozen. When I tun the thermostat to defrost mode under the fridge, it spins freely, but when it comes back on, it won't work on it's own and resists manual turning.

I don't know the model as we've lost the paperwork on the unit.

LG Refrigerator Won't Cool - Main Board Troubleshooting? appliancerepair

Hi everyone,

I have a gorgeous LG lcs27931SW that is staring me in the face. I am a newbie when it comes to fridge tech, and repair videos for LGs either don't answer my question or cost money.

The entire fridge will not cool. Took off lower panel, and the compressor coils are a bit dusty, and the compressor fan is unobstructed and running fine.

As far as I can tell, the compressor is NOT running at all. Additionally, the LCD display panel on the front of the fridge is only partially lighting up. The actual LCD display is barely lighting up, while the ice dispenser is quite bright, and the internal lights seem fine.

This leads me to believe there's an issue with the main board on the LG. I've inspected the main board (which is on the top of the fridge! What in the world!?) and can't see physical signs of damage.

I am unsure what my next step is - do I test the outbound power harness to the compressor for 120v? I can't find this model number online, so I am having trouble finding a guide as to where the harness for compressor would be, so any suggestion on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

GE Refrigerator - Vents fill with ice every week or two, freezer doesn't get cold enough appliancerepair

Hi all!

As it says in the title, I'm having trouble with my GE Refrigerator (happy to look for a model number... would that be on the back? I couldn't find it with a cursory look this morning. I'll also provide a picture when able).

There was a night a month or two ago where the refrigerator door was wedged open, and since then, I've been having trouble keeping the freezer cold. The vents in the front and back fill with ice, and then even water in ice trays won't freeze.

I've unplugged the fridge and defrosted the freezer with a pot of boiling water, scraping and melting the ice until it's gone, and that helps, but a week or two later, everything's plugged up again. It even seems like there's ice underneath the bottom of the freezer (sounds crunchy). Is there anything else I could try?

GE refrigerator not cooling and water dispenser panel has no lights appliancerepair

Hi, I cannot find the exact model number (in the owners manual, it says "Models 23 and 25) of my GE refrigerator.

The problem is, my GE refrigerator's water panel stopped working this morning (no lights on, doesnt dispense water or ice). I noticed now (during the night) that the food in the refrigerator is also not kept cold, so I removed the food. The light bulb does work.

I checked if the plug outlet works by plugging in my oven, and it does work. I unplugged the refrigerator for one minute and plugged it back in but the problems still remain. I also tried fliping the switch on the power circuit board off and back on, but that didn't solve the problem either.

Any ideas? Thanks advance!

My Samsung Refrigerator stops cooling whenever it freezes outside. appliancerepair

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

I live in a raised house in New Orleans and it rarely freezes here. But when it does, my refrigerator stops cooling.

Samsung replaced the motherboard. Then they replaced the refrigerator. Now they insist the warranty is expired and offer no help.

Things I have considered:

Environment - I have tried closing the heating vents in the kitchen. Maybe it was getting too hot. I have tried blowing a fan on it. I have tried putting a space heater nearby.

Power - I have tried plugging it into different outlets, including using extension cord to a different room. I have tried plugging a battery backup with a phone charger into the same outlet so that I could hear if it clicks in. So I think the power is clean.

Water Line - I have tried disconnecting the water line entirely, thinking maybe the extra-cold water is confusing the machine.

I'm really not sure where to go from here other than throw the piece of garbage to the street and buy a new one. So ANY advice will be greatly appreciated. But I would really just love to hear from one other person who has experienced this.

Whirlpool Fridge (WRV986FDEM01) ice build up causing fan noise appliancerepair

I've had my Whirlpool refrigerator with bottom drawer freezer for just over two years but in the last month or so there's been ice build up behind the back panel of the bottom freezer compartment which is causing noise from the fan when it rubs against the ice (or so I was told by two repairmen). It eventually corrects itself by the time the repairman comes out (2 weeks to get an appointment!) but this is now the third time in the last 2 months this has happened.

Thankfully I have an extended warranty through sears and it hasn't cost more than my time but so far they've not given me any meaningful way to prevent this or fix it.

Does anyone have ideas on what could be going on here? Any help is appreciated.

Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working appliancerepair

I have a Whirlpool WRS325FDAM02. The ice maker stopped working yesterday. I completed all the tests HERE and I couldn't get the motor to spin. I took the unit out to let it thaw incase it was frozen up. Once it thawed, I put the unit back in. The motor spins properly now but it seems to be spinning constantly. I haven't heard any water get dumped in yet. Any thoughts?

Water filter replacement REQUIRED every 6 months on new refrigerators? appliancerepair

My wife and I went refrigerator shopping today and narrowed down our choices to a GE and a Samsung (like this GE refrigerator for example).

As the salesperson was trying to sell us a warranty, he threw out an argument that on these new models, the ice maker will stop making ice completely when the replace-filter light comes on, and the light comes on every six months regardless of usage. The filters are $50 each, he said, but warranty holders get them for half price. In a salespersony twist, he claims we save money by buying the warranty. Yeah right... whatever you say, salesman.

Anyway, I do plan on using filters (maybe generic if I can get away with it), and only replacing them when I need it. What I don't want is a fridge that holds my ice maker hostage to extort money from me every 6 months, even when I don't actually need to replace the filter.

Can anyone confirm or deny this claim that the ice maker will purposely refuse to work every 6 months?

Refrigerator attempt repair or replace? appliancerepair

I have a 7 year old Samsung RSG257AARS side by side refrigerator. Fridge side seems to be working OK but the freezer won't drop below 29 degrees. The temperature controls on the freezer side is a mess as well. It will read -2 but once the power is cut it will come back on at the actual temperature which is usual between 29-38 F. Then after a few hours it was say it's back at the set temp of -2 again. I have a repair guy scheduled for Wednesday. $100 to come out and then parts and labor on top of that. I'm beginning to think I should just consider buying a new refrigerator instead. Any opinions?

May Tag Ice Maker freezes up - trouble shooting help please appliancerepair

Hi folks.

The ice maker in my May Tag top mount refrigerator is doing a weird thing, it is making ice in the metal tray, but the ice is frozen solid to the tray. Therefore, when the plastic tines or forks go to rotate to dump the ice, they just can not make it budge. It is stuck in there good.

I do not know how this ice maker works, but I'm guessing there is something to heat up the metal tray slightly to get the ice unstuck from the metal tray/mold so that it will swoop the ice out?

Is this just a 'dead ice maker' situation or are there some things I can troubleshoot, parts I can replace?

I have a digital multi-meter and plenty of hand tools.

What can i temporarily use to hold up a shelf in a refrigerator? appliancerepair

We have a shelf support that broke when we were getting ready for xmas dinner. The fridge is too old for me to be worried about repairs but I want a temp fix to last until i replace it at tax time.

What would hold up to the humidity enough to hold up a shelf. I don't care about looks, it can be something as cheap as a command strip or something as rugged as epoxy. I just have no experience with different glues in humidity.

The way that it broke, i'm going to have to place 4 new anchors to hold up the shelf. They were supported from the rear, and the support broke so I have been thinking of a front left, front right, rear left, and rear right support fix.

Any ideas?
