i live in austin, tx in a rental property that suffered a pretty serious rodent infestation, to the point where everything in our pantry was contaminated with rat feces and urine and we had to have it professionally cleaned. the rodents were an issue for a few months but it finally came to us trapping a rat and sending pictures to him for it to be somewhat solved.
so once that was almost under control, we noticed our fridge/freezer was unusually hot. called the landlord and got a replacement fridge after about a two weeks of phone tag.
during the cleaning of our pantry and broken fridge, we had no choice but to throw away around $500 (maybe more) worth of food and food cooking equipment. i want reimbursement from the landlord or a renter's insurance policy and want to know if this is something anyone has dealt with before?
