Do liquid antibiotics for dogs really go bad after 2-3 weeks? AskVet

My puppy was just diagnosed with a UTI and the vet wants to put him on Clavamox drops. I actually have a pretty full bottle of liquid antibiotics in my refrigerator he got after an unrelated infection on February 11th. The vet said the original RX is probably bad. I just wanted to know if it really spoiled that much after less than a month or if it sounds like they just want to sell another bottle for $40?

Here are all the details of the original RX: AMOXI/CLAV 40MG/5.7MG/ML 1-20MLS Filled Feb 11 17 Discard by Feb 17 18

Species: Dog Age: About 4 months Sex/Neuter status: Neutered male Breed: Chihuahua Mix Body weight: 4.9lbs History: Got a urinalysis, diagnosed with UTI today on the 6th. Duration: Symptoms appeared Saturday
