Reverse osmosis water filter or water bottles? Frugal

I have a weird health issue that requires neutral pH water. Luckily regular grocery store bottled RO water is almost always perfect. I do bottles when they are on sale for really cheap, or just fill giant 5 gallon containers when not at their stations then PH them down.

My question is, would it be more economical to get my own RO water filter? I know the ones built into refrigerators are tetrrible from experience, and the filters require constant pricey replacement. What about a dedicated one though? Can that beat a 32 pack of bottles for 2 bucks?
