Today at work I went on a parts run to Sears to get some vacuum filters for our shop vac. On my way back I stopped by and got myself an Italian sandwich from Jersey Mikes.
I put the sandwich in the refrigerator and returned to it at break. I sat with my a couple mechanics, the it guy and the building maintenance guy. And I started eating my sandwich. It was delicious.
The IT guy has a history of being a bit of an asshole. He's totally fine solo, we have had good conversations but whenever he's around more than one person he just turns into this asshole. I've had a lot of issues with him ignoring my personal space to be funny or to bother me. He will make inappropriate jokes. He bothers everyone in some way - it's not just me.
Anyway, I'm eating my sandwich and looks at me and starts laughing. He turns to me, and I shit you not says "I just love that you're going to eat that whole thing."
It me a minute to process this. Like one, just don't comment on what people are eating unless you're a doctor. And two, don't comment on how much a pregnant woman is eating.
I said, "Yeah, I'm going to eat this whole sandwich. It's a sandwich. I'm not going to take it on a date. I'm going to eat it."
He just chuckled again and said "Yeah, I just love it."
Then, I started getting a bit defensive, "It's not like I got the huge sandwich, it's just a regular."
He just kept laughing at me. So I ate the whole sandwich - as planned. Then I took some homemade cookies my grandma made and ate them, commenting "I need something to wash down that whole sandwich."
Grumble Grumble, rant rant.
