Previous apartment didn't want me to leave. Paranormal

My previous apartment, a three bedroom, two floor townhouse style apartment, is the first place I've been where I've experienced undoubtedly paranormal experiences. Not tons, but enough, and whatever it was didn't seem happy we were moving out.

I'm one who is open to there being paranormal existence, or at least different level of existence that we haven't discovered or proven yet, though I'm an extreme skeptic. It's unbelievable to me what some people would consider paranormal activity, photos, etc. Even the "professionals" on television are at times ridiculous. I look for all commonly known possibilities and if there are any, I may feel it could be paranormal but I'm not impressed because of the possibility it isn't.

This apartment offered a chance at my lack of explanation, or at least more than I've ever seen in my personal life. Below are some examples of activity that occurred over many months.

My wife and I had these two 10-15 year old (at least) plush gingerbread man Christmas decorations. You squeeze the hands and they would play jingle bells. They hadn't worked since before I met my wife (so at least about 6 years). Well, one day they were resting on the back of our couch for decoration, no one near, and one of them starts playing jingle bells. It only lasts about 3-5 seconds before winding down to a stop, creepy movie style. Freaks my wife out. I was a little weirded out as well but figured those batteries could've been holding onto some juice that just discharged somehow.

The kids and my wife consistently (not constantly) heard unfamiliar voices in the home, some saying their name, usually independent experiences. I never witnessed any of this.

A separate incident, I was sitting on a couch in the living room. By the back door, which was connected to the living room, there was a smoke detector on the ceiling. I saw rolling black smoke above the door near the smoke detector which then disappeared after a couple seconds. Myself, being skeptical, I figured it was one of those visual misinterpretations of the brain and never said anything about it, until about a month later. My mother in law was visiting and was talking to my wife about paranormal things for some reason, when I chimed in. I said "well you wouldn't believe what I saw above that door." My mother in law interrupted and said "you mean the smoke?" Apparently she had seen it before and never said anything. I could not explain this away and felt a little chill of realization.

I'll throw this in here though it's too easy to say I was innocently dreaming. I was in fact asleep. Our bedroom was adjacent to the back door where the black smoke appeared, which is why this bothers me. In my dream I was lying on my bed when my son walked in from the doorway to the living room. He walked toward me and his mouth began opening unnaturally wide (vertically) as he approached, staring at me, at least a few feet in length. I then awoke.

Fast forward to moving... We were moving out to a bigger place after my son was born and needed his own room. The rest of the family was living out of the new place, and after work each day I spent a couple hours cleaning out what we left in our old place and cleaning it, staging things for donation, etc.

Within these several days I felt like something was making itself known to me. First, I would hear noises all over the place, but really, it's an old place. Then, the refrigerator's magnets started jumping off of it. It had been unplugged for a couple days now but we hadn't removed the magnets. I watched at least four of them decide to demagnetize and jump to the floor. I found some more I didn't witness.

Then I was cleaning the laundry room floor (it was otherwise empty). Our daughter's old room was above it. I heard what would sound like a marble drop on her floor with a few quick, hard bounces and a few-second roll. A little creeped, I went upstairs to find what it was and there was nothing. I had already cleaned the upstairs fully.

I went back down to finish the laundry room floor and something touched my shoulder. Luckily it was the last night I was there to clean after work, and it was the last room. I high tailed it out of there!

Luckily our new place is nothing like that one...
