For the past week, my five year old refrigerator has started to have this chemical like smell in it. The second you open the door, it's there. It has continuously gotten worse over the course of the last several days. I've cleaned the fridge completely out, washed it, and it still smells like this.
The freezer also has that same smell, and has even absorbed into the ice, both in smell and taste.
It's not rotten food, the fridge has been cleaned out. It can't be a freon leak, because the fridge and freezer are still both working. It's no longer under warranty, and I'm starting to become worried that whatever this smell is, could be absorbing into the food, since it's already penetrated the ice.
Any suggestions on what it may be? Repair, replace?
