Two weeks ago a pipe burst beneath the neighboring apartment. They were immediately removed from the unit due to it being inhabitable. Since then they still have not discovered the source of the leak and we've had consistent issues. We've nearly half that time with no water. They nicked our gas line trying to find it and we were temporarily evacuated. We've had leaks in the ceiling (quite major), kitchen and bathroom as a result.
The management staff has been entirely negligent. The only contact or information we've received have been from a third party company. They have made promises to fix issues and contact us and have followed through on nothing. In fact, we have an active leak gushing from under our refrigerator now that was reported 12 hours ago that no one has to come to investigate.
We have not had any property damage thankfully but it seems likely that it's going to get worse if they cannot find the leak. We have a toddler and a dog which makes just up and relocating constantly a big chore. At this point we'd just like to be released from our lease. Does it sound like we're within our rights or are we stuck waiting a bit longer? Or just in general, what constitutes a "reasonable amount of time?"
