My husband and I have five kids ages 6 - 15. We created a chore chart that lives on the refrigerator door. They each have a few chores a week, nothing too difficult. One of them vacuums, another does dishes, they clean their rooms, etc. They even get a couple days of the week off and a meager allowance. Why is it that we have to remind them to do these chores? If we don't say anything, the chores often don't get done. This list has been in place for months. We've tried some disciplinary measures in the past but have never been very consistent. I'm sure some of you will say we need to be consistent but I can't wrap my head around what's so hard about it. Why don't they just do what we've asked them to? Are they assholes, or do we expect too much?
