Guacamole! rant

I bought guacamole for myself for the game tomorrow. If I am going to sit around a "watch" football with SO, then I'm going to eat chips and guacamole. Hmmm.

I couldn't stand it though. It was in the refrigerator calling my name, so I went to get some right now! I got the wrong shit. Guacamole with jalapeño and cilantro! Fuck! A whole package of guacamole that I cannot eat!

Long string of shit, yesterday was nice. goodfeelings

I dropped out of college due to alcoholism. Lost my fiance (breakup, not dead). Moved back in with my mother several states away where I don't have friends.

I quit smoking and drinking, but that still felt like I was just fixing broken things, not moving forward. It felt like I was getting back to a holding pattern.

I made a profile on a dating site on a whim. Nothing much happened for a while.

Long story short, I spent most of yesterday with a wonderful woman. We were both incredibly nervous, not knowing what we were "supposed to do." The nervousness didn't wear off, it just started being part of the fun. You're not supposed to be completely comfortable with someone new after all. We got Pho, decided neither of us liked it, wandered around an Asian grocery store for an hour (she's super into Japanese culture, and taught me quite a bit), and then went back to her place to put the stuff that needed to be, in the refrigerator.

Now, I now what you're thinking, but no. We sat in her room listening to music and talking about books. I've never really felt so at ease with lapses in conversation before. A silence was just that, not an awkward pause, just a silence. She showed me her cats and we talked about how much we both like talking about specific interests (I love geography and history and I guess very "western" concepts, she loves computer science and Japanese and very "eastern" concepts.)

I had been rejected by the person I was sure I would spend the rest of my life with and felt very vulnerable. From what I could gather, her family was less than pleased with the fact she considered herself a woman and was transitioning, so I assumed dating was a difficult idea. It was just so wonderful sitting with someone real. When so much of me was changing and in flux, sharing some time with someone with very different experiences but a similar outlook when it came to being able to express our thoughts on the world.

Vulnerability is a weird thing. I'm an Eagle Scout and the son of a marine. Only son of my siblings and I'm quite tall and broad shouldered. It's hard to be hurt with no realistic expectation of this being what heals it. Yesterday I learned to kind of like it, though.

Anyway, I decided to leave when I felt I wanted to just think about it all, and digest what had happened. I gave her a hug and we agreed we both wanted to see each other again.

It isn't a happy feeling for me. It's more like when you put a hot pack on a really sore muscle from hiking or exercise or something. It's not pain or pleasure, it's a soothing acknowledgement, a facing of pain rather than trying to forget it. Quitting drinking gave me a new outlook on myself, and I think this did when it comes to how I interact with other people. You can't control pain, loneliness, addictions, cravings, etc. You can control you, though, you choose how you respond to it all.

Yesterday I chose to spend the whole day with someone cool, and that choice is a good feeling. I also got registered for classes at a nearby college to get back towards my bachelor's. I'm still broken, still rejected, still an alcoholic, but I'm doing things that feel right, instead of just feeling good.

[Need Advice] How can I make this kitchen doorway less awful? DIY

Hello DIYers!

I'm hoping that someone can make a recommendation for an ugly doorway that leads from my living room to my kitchen. I would love to find some way to put trim around it, but the L-shape makes that very difficult.

The doorway is 31" wide. Repositioning the doorway isnt an option because within the kitchen, there is only about an inch of space between the doorway and the refrigerator shown here: http://ift.tt/1EwPIgA. The home is quite tiny.

Research: Mods removed my last post because I didn't write about research I've done. I don't know if this is good enough, but I honestly haven't found any photos of a doorway like this. Even the smallest of doorways shown on houzz or pinterest have at least a few inches on each side to fit trim. I did see this post recently and thought there may be some way I can add trim to the inner sides of the doorway to create a similar affect.

P.S. the dog gate is temporary, I have a puppy who won't need it much longer.

I work at a $BoozeStore that offers happiness and joy and smiles and many adult beverages. I like my job and most days everyone is pretty easy to handle. You get a few people that grumble about a few dollars savings at our competitor, but many price match. I'm not allowed to tell them we do it, though. Price matching has changed the past couple of months, so I can only do a couple per transaction, also. With that background, the story begins...

I'm stocking a focal cheese refrigerator boat unit in the middle of the store during my last hour of my shift. A lady walks up to me and asks if I could price match.

I say, "OK, sure. Which ones would you like price matched?"

"All of them," as she gives me a half-hearted 'I'm sorry' chuckle.

That's fine with me. It's my job, I do whatever and I never complain. I walk her over to the computer so I can look up the info on the competitor's website. If it's not there, I can't do it. I write down her 5 items and begin my search. That's when Impatient Lady walks up to me. She was directed over to me by the cashier.

IL - Hi, I tried pushing the little button but no one came over, the cashier said you could help me.

I thought that was weird because I didn't hear the intercom go off saying a liquor case needed a sales associate.

Me - Yes, I can help you in one minute. I'm in the middle of a price match for someone, as soon as I'm done I'll be with you.

IL - Oh.. well I thought you could have helped me.

Me - I can, just give me a minute. What did you want?

IL - Oh I just wanted something from one of the locked cases.

Me - Oh, which one did you need?

IL - Oh, well I just wanted something over there, but you're busy.

Me - Yes, what did you want?

IL - I just wanted some booze

She laughed. I squinted my eyes.

Me - ... Yes, but what did you want from which case?

IL - I wanted some tequila!

So I pick up the phone and intercom for customer assistance to tequila. I finish my price matching and walk over to the return register and get the original lady rung up on a couple transactions. Impatient Lady comes back over.

Me - Just give me another minute, I'll be right with you.

IL - Well! No one came over! So I'll just leave!

I remembered that the other associate had went to lunch and the manager was busy in back with paperwork and cashier had a line. It's Friday before the Super Bowl, mind you. 3 pm, but still kind of busy.

Me- Ma'am, I'm literally one swipe of a card away fr...

It was too late, she had walked out. I returned my attention to the lady that was patient and I was helping.

Me - I don't understand people not being patient. And she didn't even hit the button.

Lady - I work at $Lumberyard, I feel your pain, I see this all the time. Can't even describe what she wanted.

I bag all of her stuff up and thank her for being patient. We shared a nice laugh about it all.

Installing full height cabinet panel with bowed wall HomeImprovement

I'm trying to complete a cabinet installation in the kitchen and I've hit a snag.

The refrigerator cabinet enclosure is made of 2 8' panels on either side.

The problem is that the wall behind the fridge bows inwards so that when the top and bottom of the side panels are both against the wall, there is nearly a 1/4" gap in the middle between the back of the panel and the wall.

One side of the cabinet ends the installation and will be facing the dining room so the gap would be highly visible.

I'm really not sure how to deal with this or why the wall is bowed the way it is? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Stupid Mistake Regarding Refrigerator Water Filter Installation appliancerepair

Hello, I have a specific question to ask regarding the installation of water filter (order part 4396841) for Whirlpool refrigerator model FD2FHEXTS02. When I attempted to install a replacement filter, I bewilderingly pushed the old one all the way back into its slot instead of turning it and pulling it out. My American nightmare

New high tech weapons such like radiation material, microwave kill people without trace, leaving death look like heart attack, blood cancer, etc.

In 1991, because an acquaintance was arrested for drug smuggling, I was under surveillance by law enforcement agent. They used isotope money as tracer which hurt my health badly. After I complained this I found I was frequently under microwave radiation which cooked my blood, solidified them to form clog, caused severe chest pain. As pressure intensified,I could not bear the torture of EM wave, I went abroad in 1999. There I still was under surveillance of local police. On Mar. 22 2000, attempts of frame me up to a drug case forced me seeking political asylum in Thailand.

What made an U.S. citizen drift abroad and ask for political asylum? The black box practice covered criminal activities of U.S. law enforcement agency. New high tech weapons enable them to murder people without being aware of. To prevent U.S. become a fascist country, an independent organization which can check the conduct of law enforcement agency is necessary.

It was a big case ten years ago.

I was a seller in San Jose Berryessa Flea Market. I sell porcelain figuring. On Sept. 1990, a lady, named Mrs. Chen, came to my stand, saying that she was an importer of porcelain. I bought some merchandise from her because she offered a good price.

On June. 1991, Mrs. Chen was arrested for drug smuggling. The newspaper titled: " Heroin bust called U.S. record".(See San Jose Mercury, 6-21-1991). There was a lot of harassment since then. I was followed, bugged, business turned downward, etc..

Psychology intimidation

According to newspaper, the heroin container arrived in on May, 1991. Mrs. Chen was arrested on June 22, 1991 when they opened it. During that one month waiting period, I was stopped by police for three times.

The first time was on Monday, in downtown San Jose. A police car sirened. I stopped, officer came forward, asking me if I knew why he stopped me. I said I did not know. He said that I was speeding. He gave me a ticket after talked to microphone . I didn't argue because I had not notice my speed at that time. But I knew I could not be very fast because it was on 7th Street where the traffic light set for 30 miles. That means if you driving at 30 miles you meet green light all the way, if you past 30, you hit a red light.

Next day was Tuesday, I went to Galt Flea Market early in the morning and arrived there about 6 a.m. The town was still asleep. No people or vehicle in sight. I was stopped by a sirening police car. Same question asked and officer told me I did not stop fully at stop sign. I was very depressing. To my delight, the officer coming back after he talked to microphone, said that he would not give me a ticket.

Within a week, there was a third time. It's inside San Jose Flea Market. Everything repeated. Officer said I was speeding at 15 miles against 5 miles limit. I had worked in Flea Market for 7 years and drove in same way, never had a problem. So did other sellers. The officer smiled at me at last after talked to microphone. Let me go without a ticket. I was so impressed because if they cited me in late two stops, I would have lost my drive license.

Weeks later, Mrs Chen was arrested. Even then I didn't relate two events together. Until about two months late, an article in newspaper touched my mind. It said police sirened signal when a man violated traffic rule. The man did not stop but speeded away in panic. Police searched his car and found drugs. Three times stopped by police within a week happened in time just the heroin container arrived in Mrs. Chen's warehouse. So it was a psychology intimidation test for me. There were many of This kind of harassment late. But compare to isotope money and microwave radiation and fluorescent lamp killing, it's nothing.

Infra-scanner, surveillance behind wall

I sell porcelain figuring. After a while, there were quite amount of broken one accumulated. That day, I was sticking the broken part back by using a glue gun. I switched on power so glue stick melted, ready for working. While I was doing my work, my tenant came in to get some food in refrigerator.(I rented out two upstairs bedrooms and shared kitchen with my tenants.) When I worked on second lot, he came again. For the third time, he was rushing down. This rose my attention. I noticed it happened just seconds after I switched on the power. It looked like that was the heat touched off his strange behavior. So I did an experiment. I packed up everything, sitting down, switching on the power of glue gun. Within seconds, he reacted as what I expected. He was embarrassed when he found I was smiling at him and explained that he was hungry. I smiling because I had the feeling a scientist had when making a discovery. The agent found the figure in screen had lit something and thought I was smoking marijuana, order my tenant to check. My tenant, knew nothing about infra-scanner, only reported I was repairing porcelain figuring. None of them was aware of it was caused by an electricity heated glue gun.

Several months later, when I repairing another pile of porcelain, same thing happened again. My tenant felt uneasy as I watching him going up and down. That in last rush down he held an underwear high and explained he was going to wash it.

Later in a newspaper article, a lawyer said it was fascist to use infra-scanner in surveillance. So I know the instrument name. And it is so sensitive that they can use it to discover corpse buried under ground from helicopter. (For the corpse which is just died with residual body temperature)

Infra-scanner can be used to watch people behind wall. If it turns on people, then clothes mean nothing. People become nude. The strange thing is,in a country which is so emphasized on privacy, almost nobody mention it. Media rarely talk about it. Most people even don't know it. In San Jose Mercury News,(Feb 21,2001. pg.18A) there's an article: "Lawyer says police use of Thermal Imagine violates reasonable expectation of privacy" As a matter of fact, they use it 10 years ago already according to my experience. Outwardly, U.S. is a democratic country. Inside, it is tightly controlled by secret police. Although you can easily ridicule President, you rarely hear a voice criticize federal law enforcement agency. Waco is a controversial issue. Many people think FBI's action is murder. What's the result? Nobody takes responsibility. People are intimidated.

How hygienic would you say the cleaning and cooking process is?	Well it all depends on how busy the day is I have seen some employees who rarely wash their hands and start cleaning things. Not caring about all the bacteria that is getting spread around the store. But when we do clean we use cold sanitizer and the same towel over and over again until it is either super dirty or someone throws it out to get another one. So, all in all I have to say we are not the dirtiest out there but sure not the cleanest. Same thing goes with the cooking process people tell me I wash my hands too much, but i feel that if you dont wash your hands enough you have a higher probability to have cross contamination and get others sick.
What do you eat at KFC? If anything. (Or what should I get?)	Well, the only thing I eat at KFC is grilled chicken when it is freshly made. If it is not, I tend to stick to strips, or hot wings. What should you get, well if you head to KFC at night only get original chicken (all the other things tend to be sitting there for awhile). If it is during the day stick to the original chicken, or the mash potato bowls and strips.
All the items have a limited life time, if they are sitting there for awhile, then those items must be discarded. If your restaurant is not doing it, it is an operation error.	That is true, but upper management is always concerned about the food cost. So, most of the time the RGM or the manager on duty changes the hold time on our product until we sell the product. Unless, we know we are getting a food inspection soon that is when our shift supervisors follow the proper hold time procedures and lets us discard food.
That's the reason of why a brand begins to deteriorate.	One of many man.
Are there any shady practices that go on/that you've witnessed in your time in the KFC kitchen? I'm talking more 'spitting in the soup' than drug smuggling but either will do. Thanks for doing this AMA.	The old General manager we had used to have tried to make me cook chicken that was expired. Told her if she eats a piece of I will serve it. Never did she take a bite out if it. Unfortunately, I don't know if the other cooks did the same thing. Never seen someone spit in food. Some of the employees that we have never wash their hands with soap, they just wet them with water for about 5 seconds. No problem, glad i could clear some things up.
What's your opinion on Church's Chicken and Popeye's? Or their chicken compared to KFC?	Never had Church's chicken before always passed by it. I always thought it was a little too ghetto from the outside though.
	Popeye's is amazing especially because they have fried shrimp. Never really ate the chicken there because I usually satisfy my appetite at KFC.
I've never been to a KFC before. What should I get and what should I avoid?	What should you get, well if you head to KFC at night only get original chicken (all the other things tend to be sitting there for awhile). If it is during the day stick to the original chicken, or the mash potato bowls and strips. Avoid, the pot pies it is made from left over chicken.
Just how "left over" is this chicken?	Anywhere from 8 hours to 3 days. After we close the chicken that we did not sell gets deboned, put in a bag and put into a refrigerator so we could use it for the potpies. If you are lucky though and we had no chicken left over for a few nights all we would do is make the chicken and debone it so we could put it in the potpies.
As long as the coolers are ~33 degrees Fahrenheit, the chicken should still be good. But if the chicken was sitting in a space with a temp. above, say, 46 degrees Fahrenheit, throw that shit out.	Key word "should" sometimes the chicken expires that day and we dont get to use it until three days later.
Does any of the chicken come in frozen? Do you have to bread the raw chicken? What would you say your lunch to dinner crowd ratio would be? 60% lunch 40% dinner? What kind of oil do you guys use to fry chicken?	The only chicken that comes in frozen and needs to be defrosted would be the strips and the bites besides that we have all the bulk amount of chicken in a fridge. Yes, I have to bread the raw chicken. Close but it is usually 60% lunch and 40% dinner we tend to slow down the later it gets. The oil that we use is Sunflower.
Can you tell us about any regulars or oddballs?	So, this one regular that we have always complains about his food and tells us he will never come back, but give it two days and he orders the same thing and the cycle starts all over again. We don't really have oddballs just people who are dirty.
Probably is trying to pull done freebies.	Haha, yeah it worked the first time he did it, but we caught on.
Do you consider yourself an actual "cook", when what sounds like almost everything is pre-made? Not meaning to sound like a jerk, I'm curious to the mentality of the people who prepare fast food.	Yes, to an extent. We do have to bread the chicken and make sure we have no marriages with the other pieces of chicken. If we mess up in this crucial step we will be getting complaints left and right. I feel like the only way I will not consider myself a cook is when we start using a microwave to heat our chicken up.
That makes sense I guess, how long do you think it'll be until microwaves or some technology akin to a microwave ARE used?	Hmm, great question... maybe when the profit margins are so low we can't afford the oil anymore.
Did you ever make your own "special" there utilizing ingredients in odd combinations that was good? For example a chicken strip sandwich on a biscuit with gravy?	All the time, now that we have strawberry puree I once made a strawberry shortcake using a biscuit (was not that good). Haha, i have tried that. I tired making a sandwhich out of a biscuit. Grilled strips they taste pretty similar to the grilled filets we use to have.
What do you really want to do in life?	Well, I graduate college this year with a bachelor's in Biology and I plan on attending Med School right after. If I don't get in I will be working for Budweiser as a brewer.

(Chicken, ingredients, and labor, etc.)	Each case of chicken is around 54 bucks ($5.40 cents a bag of chicken and each bag contains either 12 or 16 pieces of chicken.) The ingredients cost around $20 usually last around a day and a half, and I get paid $9.
What is the secret herb you use in your recipe?	It comes pre-mixed in already. All we do is combine flour, salt, milk and egg mix, and the original recipe seasoning it has a lot of pepper though.
Where did the boneless wings go? The Honey BBQ ones were awesome.	No idea where, the only logic that i can come to is that we were not selling enough of them. It is all about profit. Agreed, they were pretty amazing.

I love KFC Biscuits, is there a secret recipe or can you really make them on your own? I was told it was a premix.	No secret recipe, they come frozen in a box. We just put them in a oven for 16 mins and they are ready.All we do to them after is add butter to them.

A mate of mine in Australia says that they normally scrape the bottom of the cooking vessel to make mash. Is that true?	Yuck, no not at all. The mash and gravy comes in powdered form. We just add hot water. The only thing that we put in the mash is a little bit of butter.
Should I still get chicken littles plain?	Yes!! Just ask for dipping sauce if you get it plain though.
