Respect The Felt! (Homestuck) respectthreads

The Felt are a gang of time-travelling leprechauns who clash with the rival gang known as the Midnight Crew. Each one of them has a unique ability.

Itchy

Itchy has the power to slow down time relative to himself, allowing him to move with (what appears to others to be) incredible speed.

Doze

Doze's power is the ability to slow down time relative to others.

Trace

Trace's power is the ability to see and interact with people's "past trails"

Clover

Clover's power is his incredible luck, which makes him very hard to put down. In fact, he is supposedly impossible to kill.

Fin

Fin's power is the ability to see and interact with people's "future trails", allowing him to know the location of a person's death.

Die

Die's power is held in his voodoo doll. Sticking in the pin which corresponds with a certain person will lead into an alternate reality which is defined by the death of the person.

Crowbar

Crowbar's ability involves his titular crowbar. It has the ability to destroy any temporal-alteration artifact, negating its effect on the timestream

Snowman

Snowman's ability is pretty simple. If she dies, the universe ends

Stitch

Stitch's power is the ability to fix temporal entropy, which manifests as rifts. He spends a lot of time fixing Lord English's overcoat. He also has a selection of effigies which can tell him the health of the people the effigies correspond to. Altering the effigies alters the people they correspond to.

Sawbuck

Sawbuck's power is that whenever he is wounded, he and his attacker are transported to a random point in time. Fortunately, he's very sturdy, and can take a beating.

Matchsticks

Matchsticks' power, according to the author, is to travel to any time and place by using fire as a teleportation method

Eggs

Eggs' power is concentrated in an egg timer which, when set, allows him to go back in time one hour. He can keep doing this to create copies of himself, which is what normally ends up happening because he's not so good at time travel.

Biscuits

Biscuits believes that his power is the reverse of Eggs', in that if he sits in his special oven he can go forward in time one hour. What is actually happening is that he sits in his oven and waits for an hour to pass by.

Quarters

Although Quarters' power is never revealed in-story, the author has stated that it is a complicated ability involving coins and paired members of the Felt

Cans

Cans has the power to literally punch people into next week.

Respect John Egbert! (Homestuck) respectthreads

EB: it’s like we’re a super hero team, or some kind of anime squad. like the sailor moons, i guess, but not as lame, or as sexy.

John Egbert is a fairly average boy living in suburban Washington with his father, on whose thirteenth birthday the story of Homestuck begins.

Heir of Breath

When John ascends to God-Tier, he gains the classpect "Thief of Breath", which allows him a wide variety of abilities associated with wind and breath. This collectively is referred to by him as 'The Windy Thing'.

Retcon Powers

After toying around with a mysterious artifact, John Egbert became unstuck in time, teleporting through time at random. However, he eventually learns to control this ability. As it turned out, this "retcon" time travel was hassle-free - anything he did while time-travelling became the "real" timeline without any messy paradox bullshit. It acts more like a form of narrative alteration rather than any real time travel.

Respect Avatar Korra [The Legend of Korra] respectthreads

Spoilers for The Legend of Korra to follow.

Korra

”I’m the Avatar! You gotta deal with it!”

Appearance in Book 1 (age 17)

Appearance in Book 4 (age 21)

Introduction

Korra is the current incarnation of the Avatar, the product of a human soul bonded with Raava, the spirit of light. It is the Avatar’s duty to promote harmony between the nations of the world, and between the physical world and the Spirit World. When the Avatar dies, they reincarnate into a new body with a new personality and no memories of their past lives. Korra’s immediate predecessor was Avatar Aang.

As the Avatar, Korra is the only person who can bend (manipulate) all four elements. Starting at the end of Book 1, she can amplify her bending by going into the Avatar State, indicated by glowing eyes. (Prior to the end of Book 2, this also gives Korra the bending expertise of her past lives.) However, if she is killed in the Avatar State, she will not reincarnate, and the Avatar cycle will be broken.

Biography

Korra was born into the Southern Water Tribe, near the south pole. She had a sheltered upbringing there, watched over by her father, Chief Tonraq, and her mother, Senna. At age four, Korra could already bend three elements. She was discovered by the Order of the White Lotus, a group charged with protecting the Avatar. Under the White Lotus’s guidance, Korra trained in water-, earth-, and firebending. At age seventeen, she fled her home to visit Republic City. There, she met and befriended Mako, Bolin, and Asami, and was taught airbending by Tenzin, the son of Avatar Aang. With their help, Korra was able to resolve a non-bender uprising in Republic City. Korra went on to stop a civil war between the Water Tribes, stanch an invasion of dark spirits, take down an anarchist group (nearly dying in the process), and defeat a dictator bent on conquering the Earth Kingdom.

Personality

After being cooped up in the Southern Water Tribe most of her life, Korra is rebellious and eager to see the world. She takes pride in her position as the Avatar and is very confident in her abilities. Korra can be reckless; she won’t back down from a fight, and might even start one herself.

Through her various successes and failures, Korra learns humility and comes to rely more on her friends and allies. She also becomes more cautious and uses the Avatar State less often. Korra will not kill unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Hover over a feat to see which book (season) it’s from.

Bending

Bending is the manipulation of the four elements - water, earth, fire, and air - via physical motions. The more skilled the bender, the less they have to move to achieve a given effect. With the exception of firebending, bending cannot produce an element, only manipulate existing quantities.

Waterbending

Waterbending is used to control water in its liquid, solid, and gaseous forms. It is the most dependent of the bending arts on one’s environment, since water is not always present. It is versatile and can be used for offense, defense, and increased mobility in and above a body of water. It can also be used to heal wounds. Waterbending is slightly stronger during the night, and it’s at its strongest during a full moon. Water is Korra’s native element, but she does not usually carry water with her.

No Avatar State:

Earthbending

Earthbending allows one to manipulate rocks, dirt, and the like. It tends to be slow but powerful, and it’s ideal for blocking attacks. Certain earthbenders can control metal by bending its earthen impurities; Korra learns to metalbend in Book 3.

No Avatar State:

Unclear if Avatar State:

Firebending

Firebending is used to create and manipulate flames, which, in the Avatar universe, tend to knock things around more than burn them. It’s not very useful for defense (except against other firebenders), but it can be used to enhance one’s movements. Firebending is slightly stronger during the day than at night. Early in the series, it is Korra’s most frequently used element.

No Avatar State:

Unclear if Avatar State:

Airbending

Airbending is relatively weak offensively, but it allows the bender to increase their speed and agility. Korra learned airbending at the end of Book 1, after the other three elements.

No Avatar State:

Physical Abilities

In addition to her bending, Korra has impressive strength, durability, and agility, even by her universe’s standards. I’m fairly sure that the Avatar State does not enhance her physical attributes, but it’s not confirmed either way.

Spiritual/Energy Abilities

Korra has a number of spiritual abilities. Many of them are unique to the Avatar and require her to go into the Avatar State.

Spirit Form

Using energy from Harmonic Convergence, an event that happens once every ten thousand years, Korra was once able to project her spirit from her body as a giant. Korra was disconnected from Raava at the time, so she could only bend her native element of water.

"Stand back everyone, nothing here to see! Just imminent danger, in the middle of it me!"

Captain Hammer

Theme

Captain Hammer is a man that was born with the ability to bench press 500 lb. Given this and naturally stunning good looks, there was really only one career option for him... become a super hero! Thus he went on to fight against evil, protecting the ordinary citizens but mostly just to fuel his own ego.

Note: Dr. Horrible received a few one shot comics from Dark Horse. I assume these comics are canon, but feats from them will still be marked. Also sorry the quality isn't that great, but it's honestly the best I could find.

Respect Kumadori (One Piece) respectthreads

Kumadori

Kumadori is a villain from the Water 7 saga of One Piece. He is a member of CP9, a secret government organization focused on espionage and assassination. He came into conflict with the Straw Hat pirates after they invaded the judicial island of Eneis Lobby to try and rescue Nico Robin. Kumadori is definitely one of the stranger characters in One Piece (which believe me is saying something). He has a tendency to wax poetically and attempt sepuku at the slightest provocation.

Rokushiki

Rokushiki is a six form martial art that gives those who master it super human abilities. All members of CP9 have learned all six forms.

  • Tekkai: The user hardens their body like iron

  • Soru: The user kicks off the ground with explosive force to move at FTE speeds

  • Rankyaku: The user launches a ranged cutting attack with a swipe of their leg

  • Kamie: The user shifts their body like a sheet of paper to avoid attacks

  • Geppou: The user leaps off of thin air

  • Shigan: The user uses their finger like a bullet to pierce the opponent's skin

Body Control

Kumdori can use a technique known as Seimei Kikan to give himself a great deal of control over his body. He mostly uses this to control his hair.

Staff

His weapon of choice is a large metal staff.

The physical strength of every CP9 member was ranked Fukuro, and Kumadori's power level (called doriki) is 810. For reference 10 is the power level of an average soldier, and 500 is when someone is considered superhuman. Given this, it is not hard to assume that Kumadori could preform at least the base physical feats done by the CP9 members weaker than him. As such here are their respect threads.

Catman

Thirty years ago, an extremely popular show, "Catman", aired on television starring none other than TV's own Adam West. Sadly, all good TV shows must come to an end, and so too did this one, being eventually cancelled. But what if it wasn't cancelled?

Going into a state of shock after having his biggest series being cancelled, Adam West truly believed that he was Catman in real life. Growing to fear water and dogs, while chasing down fish, birds, and mice, Adam West turned into a half man, half cat superhero. At least, he thinks he did. Really, he's just a crazy dude in a costume who acts like a cat despite being a man in his fifties well past his acting career. Luckily for him though, a certain Timmy Turner ends on bumping into him on occasion, and lets him live out his wild fantasies as reality.

Respect Brad Armstrong (Lisa: The Painful RPG) respectthreads

Spoilers for LISA ahead!!!

I highly recommend checking out Lisa for yourself.

If you read through this before playing, some plot elements will be spoiled for you! You have been warned!

"Did I do the right thing?"

Brad Armstrong

Brad Armstrong is the main character of the second installment of Lisa. A former karate master, he is one of the most dangerous and feared men in the wasteland of Olathe, with an inhuman will that allows him to push his own physical limits. It is likely that his addiction to the drug Joy amplifies his physical abilities as well- but mostly the drug simply mitigates the symptoms of withdrawal that significantly weaken him.

Overall Brad is absurdly powerful, capable of performing completely superhuman feats despite there being no real in-universe explanation given for them.

Abilities (Armstrong Style!)

Brad's fighting style is described as being "developed out of pain and self-reflection", and is based on his family's history in martial arts. He attacks mostly using his upper body, incorporating fast punches, biting and headbutts, with few kicking moves thrown in for good measure.

Combination hand strikes and punches

Blur-speed rapid-fire punches

Dropkicks

Hadouken-style fireballs

Flamethrower-esque streams of fire

Large explosions of flame

And enormous waves of fire

Full-body headbutts and tackles

And soul-crushing groin kicks.

Brad's martial arts are extremely adaptable, having variations, all practical to use in battle, based on missing one or even both arms. Even severely damaged and missing both arms, Brad can still use Armstrong Style to bite, dropkick, headbutt and shoot fire.

Strength

Brad is exceedingly physically strong; he's probably one of if not the strongest single character in the Lisa-verse.

Brad can lift immense amounts of weight.

His maximum weight, which he can lift on his back and do rapid squats with- a cabinet, refrigerator, three barrels and a car. This has to be at least 1.5-2 tons.

Brad has absolutely no trouble rope climbing and can do it with a bicycle on his back.

He has the ridiculous upper arm strength required to do this even with only one arm.

...He even has the sheer strength and dexterity to do it with no arms at all.

In his slaughter of Rando's army, he straight-up beat them into human mulch (though through a combination of physical attacks and fire-based attacks.)

An enraged Brad can reduce people to nothing but a pool of blood with a single attack. However, it's important to note that the method of attack is not shown on-screen, and could very well be a fire attack (rather than a physical blow).

Brad defeated Rando (beat him to near-death), while critically injured, in a one-on-one fight...

despite the fact that Rando was shown earlier in the game to not even flinch from a motorcycle crashing into him at full speed.

Durability

Brad successfully fights off and survives against Rando's entire army singlehandedly- actually, potentially even without any hands, lol. (Fight lasts until around 27:00.)

He remains conscious despite being impaled with multiple arrows and having taken wounds from the various people attacking him- over 20 people, all armed and dangerous, at once. Brad reduces them to mush.

Even while severely wounded like this, Brad is still in good enough condition to fight and nearly kill Rando on his own... with Rando being a student of Armstrong style who is nearly as skilled as Brad himself, and who can use his hand to "stab through your chest".

This is Brad's best showing of durability by far, particularly in that it is a confirmed showing of durability and not just speculation based on fights in the RPG.

That said, Brad's durability is pretty consistently suggested to be superhuman.

He consistently fights opponents with

machine guns,

cinder blocks,

spears),

karate chops that literally decapitate people with one blow,

etc. etc. while Brad continues to fight with his bare hands. While he is supported by his team, the game never suggests that they are taking all the damage for him.

He's also canonically shown to be capable of tanking repeated falls that should definitely be lethal.

Brad also can only be KO'd by the various attacks that permakill all other party members in Lisa. This could be argued to be mere plot armor, but on the other hand the final fight of Lisa (in which Brad kills the rest of his party in a 3 on 1) does demonstrate that Brad is superior to his partners.

Gear

Brad doesn't fight with weapons, mostly. He wears armbands that supposedly increase his strength by way of making him feel more cool and confident. Same goes for the lotion he wears on his head.

Other than that, though, there are a few items of note.

Brad's poncho doubles as armor that protects him from damage.

He carries around Firebombs) and Diesel Firebombs which explode and sear flesh.

TNT is another explosive that Brad can use in battle.

As well as contaminated water that poisons enemies.

Jerky, Soup, and Rations are used as health kits to refill his strength.

Finally, taking Joy takes away Brad's weakness of withdrawal and makes his attacks much stronger, as well as restoring his health and mental state.

Weaknesses?

Most glaringly, aside from one outlier instance of seemingly being able to move faster than bullets (?), Brad does not seem to have superhuman speed. His fists can move at blur-speeds when using combos but his reaction speed seems to be ordinary human level. He is one of the slower party members in terms of in-game stats. Being a master of karate, though, he likely has at least decent combat speed in H2H regardless.

Most of Brad's durability seems to come from adrenaline rather than sheer physical durability.

A bullet to the head is still strongly implied to be lethal for him.

His limbs can still be hacked off, and he can be slowed by sheer physical force.

He also is much, much more of a threat when enraged, on the same note. A bloodlusted Brad will be much more dangerous than a regular in-character one.

He is also frequently prone to Joy withdrawal, which renders most of his attacks virtually worthless. Though, on the other hand, when he has taken Joy and is "Joyed" his attacks do far more damage even than normal.

All in all, Brad is an insane superhuman tank with some serious physical power. Definitely more of a clunky brick of a character than anything else, but definitely not someone you want to make angry.

A pretty obscure character, but one with some pretty interesting feats. I hope this was comprehensive, and maybe can help reduce his obscurity a little.

Gifs and clips were taken from NicoB's and HarshlyCritical's Let's Plays of Lisa. It's not my own footage.

Thanks for reading!

Its focus, however, is on surreal humor and weird shit happening to Biff in his everyday life, which actually provides a lot of feats for the guy, considering he lives through it all.

Nothing is really known about Biff's history, other than that he's been a genius inventor and weirdness magnet since his childhood, may be very old, and works at some sort of soda company/as a costumed children's party entertainer/door to door salesman. He's prone to misfortune and fortune alike, and has a knack for getting parts of himself removed.
