Water dripping from Freezer. fixit

I have a Maytag Dual cool refrigerator, with a top freezer. It started leaking, so i shut it off, and i saw that the freezer wasn't as cold as usual. And i realized that the water leak was coming from the freezer door. I removed the door, and i did see that the door was leaking, nothing else. No water inside the freezer nor the refrigerator.

I put the feeezer door in the tub to let it dry. A few hours later when i went to put back on the fridge, it still has some water dripping out of it..

I don't get why the door would be leaking. It has no frost on it whatsoever, it isn't even cold anymore (after a few hours).

Am i right in thinking that the door is the problem? And is so, why is it leaking and what can i do to fix it?

Thanks for the help.

Middle panel of refrigerator is abnormally hot? (pics provided) fixit

Lately, I’ve noticed that my Whirpool refrigerator has been acting a little weird; freezer wasn’t working at full potential last night and most importantly, the middle panel of the appliance has been abnormally warm.

http://ift.tt/2FFR1xZ

http://ift.tt/2EIXMht (Model #, it’s an older fridge)

After some quick google searching, I narrowed the issue to be the condenser coils and how dusty they were, thus restricting proper air flow resulting in possible overheating. So, I cleaned the condenser coils with a vacuum as well as the fan in the back but the problem still persists today.

Any idea on what else it could be? My SO and I are freaking out that this thing could catch on fire!

Please let me know if you would need any other information from me. I’ll be frequently checking my inbox. Thanks in advance, /r/fixit

What is wrong with my refrigerator compressor? fixit

Hi everyone.

Recently my refrigerator began to make these loud, rattling noises that seemed to be coming from its compressor. I fear that the compressor is on its last legs and would like to ask for others' opinions on this matter. I made a video of this problem -- view it here:

http://ift.tt/2ExRnFt

I wonder if someone more knowledgeable than me can suggest a possible culprit for the noise. Does this seem like something that is repairable by a layperson, or should I contact a professional?

Broken Refrigerator Crisper Drawer fixit

The rail on the left of my crisper drawer broke off and I'd like to try to avoid paying $50-65 for a new one. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some cheaper fixes.

I was thinking I could take some sort of putty and make a mold in the shape of what the side rail used to be and pour some sort of plastic compound that can harden into shape and I can just file it down until it fits perfectly.

I'd hate to have to toss the broken drawer for just the busted side rail, I don't think my local recycling center will take it, and my plastic mold idea might not be the best. Has anyone out there done this sorta thing before?

Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working fixit

I have a Whirlpool WRS325FDAM02. The ice maker stopped working yesterday. I completed all the tests HERE and I couldn't get the motor to spin. I took the unit out to let it thaw incase it was frozen up. Once it thawed, I put the unit back in. The motor spins properly now but it seems to be spinning constantly. I haven't heard any water get dumped in yet. Any thoughts?

Refrigerator ice machine not making ice fixit

I have a side by side Frigidaire refrigerator, and I've noticed that the ice machine has basically stopped making ice. There were little cubes in the slots, but I knocked them down to see if they'd make more and it hasn't for a couple days. It has both an ice and water function, and the water spout works fine. I was thinking it had something to do with how cold I keep my apartment, but it hasn't gone under 62 degrees F, so that can't be it (I also live in New England, and it's been pretty freezing cold up here the last few days). I also live in a complex, so this isn't my fridge. I was hoping to see if I could do a quick fix before calling maintenance. I had done some research and thought maybe the water spout/hose that feeds water into the ice maker might have frozen water inside blocking the path, and it said to take a hair dryer and heat it up a little until that icicle melted. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Frigidaire Model number: FFHS2313LSC Serial number: 4A34813716

My refrigerator is emitting a high frequency noise which is slowly driving me mad fixit

I rent an apartment and the refrigerator has been emitting a high frequency noise (one from an electrical connection, the kind where when you are older you won't notice it). Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this? It is very annoying and since the fridge still works I don't know if the landlord would be willing to replace it.

Summarize: how to stop fridge from making high frequency noise likely due to electrical connection issues.

Thanks!

[Refrigerator] Freezer got frosty and fridge is getting warmer and warmer fixit

Is this due to something being clogged with ice? I see two holes in the top of the fridge that got clogged with ice. I tried to get all the ice out of there. Is there anything else I need to do?

Refrigerator sounds. fixit

Hi, recently, my refrigerator started making this sound:

http://ift.tt/2zThDcg

I am not sure why it is doing this. Sounds like one of those water kettles that is boiling. It seemed to be cooling, because it is still cycling, but whether it is actually cooling or not, I do not know. It is a fairly old refrigerator.

I don't know what else to add, because really, the only thing I have noticed is the sound. If you need any additional information, please comment. Thank you so much for reading this.

Refrigerator water dispenser not working with new filter fixit

Hey all. Forgive me, the last time I worked on this was a couple of months ago, but I think I have all the details right.

  • Fridge is a Kenmore ColdSpot 106.58943801 (So, Sears brand)
  • "Change water filter" light came on
  • I replaced the filter with a generic filter (I bought it from Sears, and it is the correct replacement for that model. I had previously used this same type of filter
  • After replacing the filter, water no longer flowed through the fridge
  • I replaced with a DIFFERENT new filter (same brand/type), water did not flow
  • I put the old filter back, water did not flow
  • I removed the filter, and without a filter in at all, water flows - but not filtered.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Kenmore Elite Side-by-side freezing refrigerator compartment from time to time fixit

I recently battled the dreaded freezer deep freeze, where the defrost cycle would go but the drain plug would freeze up creating sheet ice to form on the bottom. Since fixing that, my refrigerator compartment is now reaching near freezing levels. I've tried replacing both freezer and fridge temp sensors and I also replaced the diffuser in the fridge side. I've closed the "chill zone" dial that leads to the freezer and also cleared the lower return to the freezer duct. I have the freezer set to 4F and the fridge at 41F and it will still freeze milk, vegetables, chicken broth, etc. Not sure where to go from here. Model number is 106.54606300

Wet hardwood floors, need next steps fixit

All,

Been without power for 3 days, hopefully that gets fixed today. The problem stems from a leaking refrigerator and freezer as ice melts. Water has seeped into the boards and discolored the ends and sides to a black color. I've been trying to keep the water cleaned up, but haven't been able to stay on top of it the whole time. I've been looking for answers on how to fix it, but haven't had much luck. If I dry the wood using a dehumidifier will the discoloration fade as the wood dries? What other things should I try to fix this problem? Should I call a professional? These are real hardwoods, not laminate, although I'm not sure what type (how can I tell that)

Thanks for all the help!

Refrigerator and Freezer won't cool. fixit

Style is bottom freezer with side by side top. Model is Kenmore Elite 795.72043.110.

We first discovered the problem last night. Icemaker had some ice and some water in it when we went to dispense. Fast forward a little while and everything in it feel warmer, and the stuff in the freezer is definitely starting to thaw.

The compressor seems to be running fine; it's warm to the touch, but not blistering hot. I can touch it for a few seconds before it gets uncomfortable.

The fan between the compressor and the condenser is running fine.

There was some minor dust and debris on the condenser, which I vacuumed and blew off with some compressed air. No change so far. That's the most recent thing I've tried.

I have not been able to access the evaporator(s) yet. According to the literature I've found for the unit it looks like there is a separate evaporator for the top and bottom, and it seems unlikely they would both go on the fritz at the same time (which I'm assuming would need to happen for both sections to stop cooling), but I'm going to continue looking into them.

We scheduled a service technician, but they can't come until Wednesday. I would really love to get this resolved before then for obvious reasons. Any suggestions on what to try next?

Edit 1: Display on the door reads the temperatures that we set it at (0 and 37). Not sure if that changes based on the actual temperature inside, or is just for setting the desired temp, though.
