[ME] Someone or something helped me find what I didn't know I had lost Thetruthishere

In 2003 I was living alone in a large apartment complex. Built in the 1950s? Behind the complex of buildings there was an empty property lot with lots of trees, then beyond it a cemetery. The cemetery had existed before these buildings were built.

Anywhere else I had ever lived, before or since, I have always been comfortable in complete darkness. Never need a small nightlight or any other things on during the night. I always got a kick out of the fact that I could navigate through an entire house in complete darkness, feeling sure of where everything was. Only at this apartment, and only when there were no lights on, I always had a feeling of not being alone. I would feel truly afraid to make one single move without a light on.

The front of my apartment had living room and kitchen, back of the apartment two bedrooms and bath. I use the smaller bedroom as an office. The larger bedroom where I slept was furthest from the kitchen. One summer morning, about an hour before my alarm was to go off, I was woken up by a ticking sound. When I say "woken up" I mean it was loud enough to not be able to fall back asleep through. Unmistakeable sound of a clock ticking the seconds by. Only I didn't have a clock like that in my room (only the plug in digital kind that made no noise).

There was a large wall clock in my kitchen though. One of those school wall clocks, bought at IKEA, large white face and metal rim. But how could I be hearing that if I was in the room farthest from it, with my bedroom door closed?

(My boyfriend used to think it was strange that I would bother to close my bedroom door to sleep, since I lived there alone. "Your whole apartment is your bedroom, basically. Why bother?" But I found, even with my sleeping light on in the bedroom, I still felt like something was going to walk right in the room)

I opened the door to the bedroom, and instantly I couldn't hear the ticking sound anymore. I walked to the kitchen and stood near the clock high up on the wall. The refrigerator was to the right of it and running as normal so I had to strain to hear the clock ticking, even standing right in front of it. Since it was still early, I decide to go get back in bed.

I shut the bedroom door behind me and by the time I cross the room and sit back down on my bed, I hear the ticking again. Just as loud as before. So I sit very still, hold my breath and strain to listen to see if I can figure out where its coming from.

I have a small nightstand on the far side of my bed, with a large lamp and the plug-in clock. The other side of my bed there is a tall dresser with many drawers that I used for clothes. The only thing I had on top of this dresser was a small lamp that was always on. I never set anything else on top of that dresser because my cat would swipe things off in the night, as they do.

I lean closer to the dresser, and I can still hear the ticking. I stand up and decide to lean my ear against the wood on the side of the dresser and I can hear the ticking reverberating through the dresser.

I should mention this furniture set (dresser and nightstand) was my great grandmothers. She was born in the late 1800s and this furniture had been hers since she was a teenager. It passed to my grandmother, to my mother, then to me. I have used this furniture since I was a teenager, and I still use it to this day.

I take my ear away from the ticking dresser and my first reaction was to jiggle the dresser a bit. I put my hands on top of it and try to lean it away from the wall. As soon as I do, the ticking stops. I don't know what made me think of it, but I leaned down to look under the dresser (this is a very old fashioned dresser, it was on legs, so you could easily see the floor underneath.) And I see something shiny.

I reach and grab it. And it's my wristwatch. A silver watch, one of my favorites, that I hadn't worn in a while because I couldn't remember where I had left it. I do have a cat that likes to knock things on the floor, but that has only made me ever vigilant about looking under furniture and tidying up the floors in each room just about every day for whatever she has decided to mess with that day. So that's how I know that watch wasn't under that dresser yesterday.

Funny thing about the watch though is that if you hold it to your ear, it makes no sound. So what was all that ticking???

Experienced the ghost of my Grandmother Thetruthishere

When I was 13 I experienced the ghost of my grandmother.

She died in her sleep while taking a nap on the living room couch. Afterwards according to my father and grandfather, every now and then they could hear her make the trip from the bedroom to the kitchen and open the refrigerator door. A trip she made many times when she was alive. At first i thought my father and grandfather were making this up, having fun at my expense.

A couple years after she passed away, my father and i went to spend the weekend with my grandfather. My father and i slept on the living room couch (it opened into a double bed). The same couch my grandmother died on.

My grandfather left the house to go to a next door neighbors house to play poker. My father and i went to bed in the living room. My father went right to sleep. I laid awake, reading a magazine.

After a while i heard the noise of the back bedroom door being pulled open. I heard the sound of shuffling feet. I heard the creak in the floor directly in front of the bathroom doorway. I heard more shuffling feet. Then i heard the fridge door being pulled open and i heard the sound of glass bottles in the fridge door clinking against each other (back then they were still putting soft drinks in glass bottles). Feeling thirsty, i decide to get out of bed and go join my grandfather in the kitchen for a cold drink. I go into the kitchen only to find myself all alone.

I was puzzled. I could've sworn I heard my Grandfather walk from the bedroom into the kitchen and open the fridge. Then i remembered that my grandfather wasnt home. He was over the neighbors house and he hadnt come back yet. Then i remembered my grandfathers and fathers ghost stories. Then i got scared. I raced from the kitchen, into the living room and leaped over my sleeping father into my side of the bed.

Then i went to sleep. I dont know how long i slept before i woke up with a start, a feeling of paralyzing fear in my body. I was frozen. I was lying on my right side. It took a while for me to work up the courage to turn my head to the left. My head was covered by my blanket. There was a shadow being cast onto my blanket. The shadow was the outline of a head and shoulders of a woman with a beehive hairdo. My grandmother used to always have a beehive hairdo even years after it went out of style, up until she died. I heard heavy breathing coming from the shadow.

I had to work up the courage to move one of my hands to remove the blanket off of my face. When i did, in an instant, the paralyzing fear i felt was gone. The shadow was gone. The sound of heavy breathing was gone.

My father was still sleeping. I pulled the blanket back over my head and went back to sleep. Only to wake up again on my right side, the paralyzing fear was back. Forcing myself to turn my head. The shadow was back. The heavy breathing was back. Again i had to summon up all my courage to move my hand to take my blanket off my face only to find nothing there and the paralyzing fear gone.

I went through this same routine the entire night. I lost count of how many times this happened through the night. Maybe a dozen. Maybe more. But it happened a lot.

The next morning i told my father what happened to me throughout the entire night while he slept. The sounds of the bedroom door opening. The shuffling feet. The fridge door opening. Nobody in the kitchen. Being awakened with a paralyzing fear. The shadow. The heavy breathing. The repeat performances throughout the night.

I kind of expected him to tell me that i was just seeing and hearing things. But instead he smiled and exclaimed, "that was grandma!"

Talking to the refrigerator Thetruthishere

At the house where I grew up, my bedroom was right off the kitchen and you had to walk around the refrigerator and squeeze past the kitchen table to get into my room. Rather than bother with that, if the family wanted to talk to me they'd just stop at the refrigerator and yell at me. I'd yell back and all would be fine.

I went away to college and lived in a dorm but spent summers and weekends in my old room. Upon returning home one time, my father pulled me aside and said "Thank God you're here. Your mother's been talking to the refrigerator again." On several occasions, he'd notice my mother standing at the refrigerator having a conversation with no one, ask my mother what was going on, and she'd say "Talking with Troy, of course." Then they'd go into my room and see that I wasn't in there. I wrote this off as standard "Mother misses her son."

However, a few months later I was in the room and heard one of my brothers talking to me. We conversed for quite a while. I realized that I hadn't heard him answer back in a while and went into the kitchen to see what was up. I couldn't find him in the house so I went outside to where my parents were doing some yard work. No, they told me, my brother hadn't been by that day.

A year or two went by and I came home one day to find my mother talking to me again while standing at the refrigerator. She accused me of sneaking out of my bedroom window as a prank.

A year or two after that, I'm in my room when I hear my other brother tell me he wants to introduce me to his new girlfriend. He introduces her by name, I hear her voice, and I tell them that I'll be out in a minute. Of course, when I go to the kitchen, nobody is there. I got outside and my brother is just pulling up in his car. He'd brought his new girlfriend by to introduce her to the family. The girlfriend had the same voice I had heard, but a different name.

My father, who had been telling us we were all crazy for years for talking to the refrigerator, called me at school late one night to see if I was there. He'd been standing at the refrigerator talking to me earlier and I'd been answering back right up until he remembered I wasn't home that weekend.

When my parents moved to a new house a few years after that, they left the refrigerator at the old house and bought a new one.

[ME] A collection of stories from my youth, and a bit later Thetruthishere

Hello, TTIH. I've been a subscriber for maybe a year and have always wanted to share a few of my (perhaps) paranormal stories with you. I was a subscriber at /r/nosleep for quite a bit longer, but grew tired of the "creative fiction" that I'm sure many of you are familiar with there. Because of that, I never really felt a desire to contribute to that community, and would rather post here. There was that Ask Reddit thread a few days ago that sort of inspired me to share here.

Before I get started, it's sort of important (or maybe just to me), that for some reason, the presence, or lack thereof, of my dad in my life has affected me greatly. I don't mean he was an absent father, he's always been there for me and still is. The thing is, with every experience I've had, there's been a kind of strange connection to my dad being somewhere unusual, "paranormal" or not. My worst medical emergencies always seemed to happen when my dad was not around. For example, I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was younger. Thankfully I haven't had an episode in many years. However, whenever I would have a seizure, my dad was away from home for one reason or another. There were only two exceptions, and they were rather mild. My worst "grand mals" always happened when he was gone. I broke my wrist when he was gone, and I had several surgeries while he was out of town. What makes this particularly interesting, is that my dad has mostly worked from home for my entire life. He only ever really left home to visit the office for a couple hours or when he had a corporate meeting in Atlanta, Kansas City, or wherever he needed to be for whichever company he was working for. I may be reaching far with this hypothesis, but it has always been something that I connected with my experiences. To me, it is important.

Anyways, on to the stories.

(1.) The first one I can remember, I was probably around eight years old. This story always seemed like one I could write off as a figment of my childish imagination, but I still felt like I should include it, even though it is rather short.

My dad was in Kansas City for a corporate training event or some such, and I was home alone with my mom. I have an older brother that I was sharing a room and bunkbed with at the time, but he was gone that night. He may have been with staying with a friend, but I don't know. All I know is that he wasn't home. I awoke that night with an uneasy feeling. I'm not really sure how to describe it, other than not being able to fall right back asleep and having trouble breathing. I didn't wake up from a nightmare or anything, I just woke up feeling nervous, and I remember having a somewhat sour stomach. Anyway, after tossing and turning for maybe an hour, I walked to my parents' bedroom and asked my mom if I could sleep in her bed. Of course, she said yes, and I slept in the spot my dad would normally occupy. His side of the bed faces the master bathroom, which is key.

I woke up later, facing the right side of the bed (which is odd because to this day, I sleep facing left), and the door was open all the way, towards me. Granted, this is how my parents usually left it unless someone was inside, so I wasn't immediately off-put. But, I slowly realized that I remembered using the head before crawling into the sheets, and especially remembered closing the door behind me, which I was taught to do to keep our late, long-haired dog from climbing on people's beds. Anyway, after staring into the bathroom for a few moments, I began to see a figure form from nothing in front of me. I remember being really confused, because I instantly noticed that it was a woman. It looked a lot like my mom, but with a different haircut. Years later, I was exposed to these paintings:

http://ift.tt/1KiZi9M

http://ift.tt/1Hg97Px

The figure greatly resembled the women in these paintings, sans umbrella (this memory was quickly harkened back to upon seeing them in college).

Anyway, the woman seemed to not notice me. She almost glowed. Not with bright light, but almost the sort of soft halo you see around objects when you accidentally fall asleep with your contacts in and wake up nearly blind. It's sort of hard to explain because the only light coming into the room was the light of the streetlamp coming through the slats of the blinds. The glowing was something else altogether. She seemed to be primping herself in the mirror and adjusting the shoulders of her dress. But she never took notice of me looking at her. Just as soon as she was there, she disappeared. I turned around and grabbed my mom's arm. She woke up, and I began to cry. She tried listening, but I was so scared and tired I couldn't really articulate what I had seen. That's all I remember from that night.

(2.) The next story I have was when I was probably about 12-14 years old. It remains the most terrifying and vivid memory of my paranormal experiences. Once again, I woke up in my bedroom (my brother and I had moved into separate rooms by now), unable to fall back asleep. I attribute this to being in the warmest room of the house, and me never being comfortable when too warm at night. I got up to go to sleep on the couch in the living room, which was also one of the biggest rooms in the house and therefore one of the least stuffy. When walking down the hallway, I noticed the light of the television bouncing around the walls of the living room. My dad had, for some reason, fallen asleep on the couch, or had gotten up and slept there in the middle of the night. This was very unusual for my dad, who nearly always sleeps in the master bedroom until morning. Anyway, he had taken the larger of our two couches. I was upset at this because I was, at this point in my life, too tall to sleep comfortably on the love seat. I shook him awake, informed him of my predicament, and asked what I should do. He told me to go grab a sleeping bag and pad out of the garage, lay it out on the floor, and go back to sleep.

I retrieved the stuff from the garage and began setting up camp. Even though I was tired enough, I still could not fall asleep. I grabbed the remote from the coffee table and started watching shitty late-night T.V. and infomercials, thinking they would bore me to sleep.

This is where things started to get weird.

I was facing forward, arms crossed behind my head, watching T.V., laying parallel with the couch and dad on my right. To my left was the kitchen, which was not separated by a doorway or anything, because we had a very open floor-plan. I had a wide-open view into the kitchen with few obstructions other than a bit of counter. Around the corner of the kitchen was a doorframe that connected it to our small dining room.

I began to hear a shuffling coming from the other room. A sort of slow, quiet shuffling that almost sounded like someone limping. The cadence was not like a normal gait, but interrupted and awkward, though quiet. I muted the T.V. and listened raptly, attempting to pinpoint the noise. Looking in to the kitchen, I saw nothing, but I could still hear the noise. While keeping completely still, I strained my eyes to see into the darkness. The closest thing to the edge of the kitchen, and the doorframe which led to the dining room, was our refrigerator which was a cream color, a stark contrast from the surrounding blue-green flooring and shadow. Keeping my eye on this area, I kept completely still, limiting my breathing in order to focus on the sound. I began to see movement around the fridge, something was entering the kitchen from the dining room. I would have been able to see, or hear someone down the hallway or entering through the backdoor in the dining room, but neither of those were options. There was no creak of a door opening or footsteps from the hall; they originated in the dining room. I began to see a figure come into view into the kitchen. What I remember most is first seeing that figure walk into my line of sight, so incredibly slowly. It was dressed in pure grey, in a long, hooded cloak. The dress reminds me of a Dominican monk, in retrospect. The hood was raised, and tall. It looked like a Ringwraith from The Lord of the Rings, but this is before those films were released. It shambled parallel to me, towards the kitchen sink, head low, as if it didn't know I was there. My heart racing, I began to think of what to do. The thing walked to the other side of the kitchen, its lower body now obscured by the counter. Yet it kept it's face parallel to my own, staring down at the sink. When it stopped, I could see its chest slowly rising and falling.

When I couldn't handle it anymore, I decided to wake my dad up. With my left arm, I reached across my chest to tug at his leg, at the same time keeping my head pointed toward the apparition and shouting, "Dad! Wake up!". But as soon as my arm began moving and the words left my mouth, the thing turned and looked at me. Its face was completely obscured in black because of how deep the hood was. It brought its arms up to its sides as if forming a letter T. I noticed that it had shackles around its wrists and chains hung low from them, drawing towards its lower body. All through this, it made no noise, but I feel like I can remember hearing the swish of its robes. As my motion continued and my hand landed on its target, my dad woke with a start.

The first thing he said was, "What the fuck is that?"

The apparition disappeared when I took my eyes off of it to look at my dad. I asked him if he saw anything in the kitchen, and he said that he did see something strange that moved quickly to the window but could not make out what it was. To this day, he blames it on my overactive imagination and him being jolted awake by me. He said he had already been having a nightmare when I woke him up. He has never believed in the paranormal, but I know what I saw, and I'm pretty sure he saw what I did.

(3.) The last story of mine takes place when I was a senior in high school, age 17. I had returned from school and decided to take a shower. No one else was home. Both my parents were at work and my brother was at college in Colorado. I remember it being toward the end of the year, because it was uncomfortably hot outside for my delicate sensibilities and I decided to take a cold shower, which I normally hate. I had plans to meet friends at the nearby lake when I had showered and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Before I entered the shower, I dropped a deuce and washed my hands. After I had been in for a bit, I began soaping up my junk. I should say that I've always had sliding glass doors on my shower, never a curtain that obscured view. Anyway, I was looking out into the bathroom while doing my thing, when all of a sudden, the knob that controlled the sink went from completely off, to full-blast on. I'm aware that some people attribute this phenomenon to a water pressure anomaly, but I'm inclined to disbelieve this because I had just previously used the sink and was in the shower. No hot water was being used. The light was on all the way, and I definitely saw our sink go from off to completely on.

I grabbed my towel and shorts by the door, ran into the garage and threw them on and immediately got the hell out of dodge. I relayed the story to my friends, who to this day thought it was just end-of-year nerves or something. Anyway, that's all I have for my stories for now.

(4.) [FAM] I felt like I should share this story merely because I found it so terrifying when it was told to me. It's not paranormal in any sense, but still quite scary.

My dad moved to the Seattle area when he was in like sixth grade, from the Midwest. Actually, he lived just a few houses down from the house Jimi Hendrix grew up in, which I always though was cool. At this time, Jimi was already famous and had been away from Washington for a while.

But that's beside the point. My dad had found it somewhat difficult to make friends (Seattle Freeze, eh?), and found himself joining sports teams that he had no experience with because he was athletic and disliked being around his single mother and brothers and wanted to get away from them. He decided to join the swim team, which he actually ended up excelling at. When he was in ninth grade, he had swim practice in both the morning and evening. Well, swim is a winter sport, so the skies got dark while he was practicing in the pool (I experienced the exact same thing in high school). One day, he returned from practice after dark and went straight to his room. Besides his mom's bedroom, his room was the only room that had an exterior window, facing the backyard (this was before fire codes were strictly enforced). He told me that he went into his room and began changing to do his homework and go to bed. His blinds were open, but since his window faced the backyard, he wasn't worried about being peeped at (he was never very attractive, anyway).

He was looking out the window when he pulled his shirt above his head to change. When it was lifted off, he saw a long-haired, bearded man with his face pressed to the glass, hands wrapped around his peripherals in order to see better. My dad, terrified, ran screaming from his bedroom and told his older brother to call the police.

Long story short, the police investigated the surrounding area, but found nothing. However, they told his mom that there was a murderous fugitive on the loose in the area and were told to keep their windows and doors locked until further notice. They were never updated on what happened to him.

Anyway, TTIH, I had fun writing this out, mostly because of how cathartic it is to tell people this stuff with anonymity, and of course, without sounding completely insane. I realize this may not be written in a way to make it as creepy as possible, but it is the best I can do, and I'd really rather not embellish the truth. I have one other story I can remember off the top of my head, but I've been working on this for longer than I wanted to tonight. If you're interested in hearing more, just let me know.

Various experiences I've had Thetruthishere

I'm bored and have been lurking on this subreddit for about an hour, so I decided I'll share my different weird experiences. They're mild for the most part, but still interesting, I hope! Throwaway because I'm shy.

  • One of my favorites is the "dancing Mickey Mouse" on my mother's head. I don't remember the memory vividly, but I do remember it happening. I was about 6/7, my sister 3/4. I'm sitting on the porch chair, watching my mom and sister in the yard doing something. So as they are, my sister asks my mom, "Is that a spider on your head??" My mom mini freaks out, swatting at her hair. (Just so you know, I have no idea my sister had asked this, I could see them but not hear. I didn't even know this happened until years later when I was talking about it with my mom). Anyway, they go on the porch where I'm sitting. According to my mom, I say, "Did I really just see that?" She's kinda weirded out now, and asked me what I saw. I told her a "little Mickey Mouse" dancing on her head, then it jumped off. So, she gets me paper and pencil to draw it out, and sure enough it looks like a little Mickey Mouse. As for me, I kinda do remember what it looks like, and its shape did resemble the original Mickey Mouse, with an odd creepy face. It was looking at me as it danced.

  • Another favorite, I call it the shadow cat. It's exactly what it sounds like- the shadowy figure of a cat. I'm a bit older here, 10-12 maybe. I remember three different times I saw it. Once, running up the wall of the kitchen. Then, running behind the refrigerator. Last, running by me as I'm walking into the living room. Each time, it would just disappear as it ran. My mom saw it once, in the living room, as we were watching TV. It walked by the chair she was sitting in. Up until then she did not believe me.

  • From the same house (that house was creepy). I'm 5-7. It's in the middle of the night, and I'm lying in bed, awake and not able to sleep. We (my sister and I) shared a room with our mom. Our bed was horizontal, then our mom's was directly across from us on the other side, vertical. So, I'm laying there, and suddenly, a woman gets up from the bed. My mom's side, but my mom is still there, asleep. She kinda just sits straight up, moving robotically, sort of. She has straight brown hair and her face is.. blurry. I'm laying there frozen and scared. She then jumps out the bed and starts to run towards our bed! I gasp and close my eyes shut, waiting for whatever it is, but nothing happens and when I open them she's gone. Years later, my mom tells me she remembers me telling her this and it's always freaked her out because it just so happened, in the middle of that same night, she woke up gasping for air from where she had lost her breath (idk if it's related or not, but it's interesting).

  • This is where we lived in my Grandma's house (another strange house). I was a teenager. I was home alone. My bedroom's main door connected to the kitchen. It usually remained shut, though, and I used the other door that connected to my mom and sister's room. I'm walking by it as I'm leaving the kitchen to go to the living room, and freeze. Behind the door, I could hear noises, like multiple things falling. I was too scared to go check it out until everyone else got home. All my things on my shelf had fell off, and a poster that had been tacked to the wall had fell, the tacks scattered in the floor (that's what gets me the most). My mom and sister has said they've experienced things falling while they were in my room as well.

  • Same as before, Grandma's house. On two different occasions, I was pushed. Once in that same bedroom, as I'm getting out my bed. I'm shoved so hard I stumble and have to grab the doorknob to catch my balance. I could literally feel it on my back, even after it was over. Then again in the bathroom, as I'm undressing to take a shower I'm shoved hard enough to lose my balance and I whip around, and as I do I see some white disappearing around the corner into the hall (that bathroom was weird, it was connected to an extremely short hallway that had another door closing it off).

Anyway, those are some things I've experienced. Not very exciting but I think that may be a good thing. What do you all think?

Strange things happening to my father. Significance behind three crows? [Father] [self] Thetruthishere

Hello. Lately, my father has been experiencing something very strange. He lives in the house I grew up in with my younger sister, my mom and their dog. When I lived in the house, my brother, friends and I experimented with the supernatural (Ouija Boards, salt-circles, summoning). I became particularly enthralled with the happenings, but that is a different story. All that I can say without further elaboration is that some of the things we experienced as teens in that house can be explained away to paranoia, anxiety, hormones, etc, but there are a few things which I firmly believe defy any reasonable explanation.

My parents never really put any stock in what we claimed to have experienced. Neither are particularly superstitious. I went home to visit for Christmas and my dad explained some strange things had been happening lately.

He works with a woman who claims to experience paranormal phenomenon of all sorts on a regular basis. She claims strange things (footsteps, voices, typical 'ghost' encounters) have frequented her entire life. At the office, strange coincidences started happening. I can't remember the details (I can inquire more if you would like) but they were remarkable enough for everyone in the office to take notice and they actually kept a log of things. I do remember two things that kept popping up, "Cookie Monster" and "Basil". Then suddenly the coincidences stopped.

One day my dad was speaking to the woman in the doorway of her office about her supposed supernatural experiences when he hears footsteps walking up behind him. He thought a co-worker was approaching but when he turned to look nobody was there (classic). The woman asked if he heard them too and explained that these things happen to her all of the time.

At home, my dad noticed the closet in the front hallway seemed to keep opening when it is always kept closed. One day before taking my sister to school, she couldn't find her coat. My dad asked her to remember to close the closet door and he closed it before they left for school. She claimed that she didn't go in that closet. When he returned, the last person to leave the house and first to return, the closet door was wide open again.

One day sometime later, my dad is laying in bed in the afternoon, my mom and sister out of town, when Ginger the dog, jumps up, growls, barks angrily. A second later my dad hears a loud crash in the kitchen. He walks in to discover the refrigerator door was swung open and hit the wall next to it with some force. On the floor was the cap to one of the salad dressings in the fridge. Nothing else was disturbed. Our fridge is new and is air-tight when you close it. You have to pull with some force to open the thing. Even if it were left cracked, some force would need to be exerted to swing it open past the point where it would continue and hit the wall, rather than reversing directions and swinging closed due to the weight of the door.

Now here is where the crows come in. One morning during an intense storm, my dad is stopped at a light taking my sister to school. He notices, despite the wind and rain, there are three crows sitting on the traffic light across the street, seemingly looking at him. One of the crows is bobbing his head repeatedly in a pattern of three. Weird but nothing too strange...

Except it keeps happening. At different locations, on different telephone lines and light-poles, my dad consistently sees three crows, and one is usually bobbing its head in patterns of three. They are usually (always?) facing him/looking at him and there are never more/less than three. Oftentimes they fly away as the light changes and he continues to drive.

We're (my family) all in a group message about the crows and he has sent pictures that I can include later if you people want. This morning, after sending another picture of three crows, he sent the following:

Swear to God and have witnesses...got to work, three crows in the tree right outside my office cawing away...after two minutes inside they all fly off together. Now no crows and no cawing anywhere

Too spooky right?

We vaguely know about the story of the Three Crows of European legend.

Any thoughts?

A Few Experiences: Someone Wanna Help Debunk These? Thetruthishere

Hi everyone, this is my first post here on Reddit. I've been a lurker for maybe six months now and I thought I'd share some odd things that have happened to me throughout my life.

I've had odd experiences happen to me for as long as I can remember. The first "paranormal" thing I remember happening to me was probably when I was about maybe 8 years old. The house I grew up in belonged to my family for maybe fifty to sixty years or more until we sold it in 2007 (my family moved out of state for a few years). My room upstairs was kind of an L shape. The house itself was laid out in a stupid way because it was in the style of a cape, except when you got to the top of the stairs, there wasn't a bedroom on either side. Instead, both bedrooms were to the right. To get to one you had to go through the other. It made no sense. When my grandparents owned it, they took down the wall that separated the two and used the space as an entire master bedroom, but when my family moved in, we put the wall back up because there were too many of us to have one huge bedroom like that. The room looked like this: http://ift.tt/1CmktjG

I had an entertainment system set up in my room with a television so I could lay on my side in bed and watch TV before falling asleep (I shared the room with my older sister for part of the year which is why there was a TV in an 8 year old's room). One night, I was half asleep when I opened my eyes in pitch blackness to see that on the television was what looked like the reflection of a human figure. The figure appeared to be a milky white color, rather tall and thin. This does not match the description of anyone in my family at the time because we are all short (even my father was probably only 5'8" - he was also very heavy). I know it wasn't sleep paralysis because I was able to move and I've experienced sleep paralysis before so I know what it's like. It remained there for a few minutes, not moving, and I don't remember much after that.

I know because it was on the reflection of the TV that maybe the TV had something to do with it. I lived in this house from the age of two or three until I was 13 and a half. I never saw a figure again, although I did have one or two other things happen in the house that I'll talk about later. I honestly hope it was the TV because it was terrifying, especially as a child. But I've never seen images appear on a turned off TV screen like that. I would also like to blame it on having a vivid imagination, but I don't know if I'm just looking for a scapegoat or if I'm being realistic, if that makes sense.

The second experience I had was in the same room. It's a long story, but I was diagnosed with severe medical problems when I was 9 and had to have brain surgery twice. One reason why I hadn't been diagnosed sooner was because of some negligence of a pediatrician and a radiologist who didn't inform us of something he had seen on an x-ray three or four years prior. This was traumatizing as a kid and around that time I wanted to become a doctor so I could make sure other people didn't have to go through the same thing. I grew up in a religious house (Catholic), so I was sort of praying and crying one night, asking God why I'd have to go through this when I didn't ever hurt anyone. At this point, my entertainment system was in the same spot, but my bed was horizontally against the wall. My room was pitch black once again and all of a sudden three lights appeared on the blank wall in front of me. They were a yellow color and kind of danced around before forming a triangle. Honestly it scared the shit out of me so I turned on all of my lights as fast as possible and it went away. There were two windows in the room near the stairs, but they were not positioned so that something like that could have happened. The shades were pulled down. Once again, I lived in that house until I was 13 and a half and that NEVER happened again before or after that night. To this day I have no idea what it was. I should probably also add that the medical problems I have do NOT cause me to have hallucinations or anything of that sort. I was not on any medication at the time as well.

The third experience I had in that house occurred in front of another person, so I know I'm not the only one who saw it. It was the day before my second operation and my parents and I were leaving to go to Boston that night so we could stay in the hotel across the street from Boston Children's. I had just had the Anointing of the Sick at our parish at the time. My parents and I came back home and my mom began packing. My father was sitting in the corner of the kitchen smoking a cigarette and my memere (basically means 'grandma' in French) and I were sitting across from him. At one point, he took a drag of his cigarette and exhaled the smoke. This is where things don't make sense. The smoke came out of his mouth normally and then, while floating up near his head, formed a circular ring that - I know this sounds SO, SO stupid, but it's the only way I can describe it - looked like a halo or something. My dad had no idea what was going on because he couldn't see it. My memere, who was in her early 70s and VERY coherent at the time, and I saw it. It stayed in the form of a ring and floated there for maybe two to two and a half seconds before it completely disappeared. My memere and I looked at each other in absolute shock. We both asked each other, "Did you just see that?" and we both agreed. It was so shocking I don't think we ever really told anyone because we assumed no one would believe us.

The final experience occurred almost a year ago. I lost my father to suicide in December of 2013 and it was an absolutely horrific experience for me. I was a sophomore in college at the time and I love school so I decided to come back that January. It was insanely difficult to come back to school while grieving, but I thought it would be better to work out my problems while in school rather than sit at home and do nothing the entire spring and summer. So one early morning, maybe 6:30 AM around March I awoke to my table fan falling off my refrigerator. I'll give you some more details: Because of my job (I work in Residential Life), I have my own room. The door was locked and I was alone. My refrigerator looks a little like this: http://ift.tt/1CmkrZa and my table fan (which looks like this: http://ift.tt/1CbHGaA ) was on top of it, directly in the center. The way it fell is as though it was pushed off. I awoke to the sound of it hitting the floor.

I've been trying to debunk this since it happened. I live in MA and we don't really get earthquakes, but I researched it anyways at the time and we had not had one. Nothing else in my room fell over and no one else ever mentioned anything. This hasn't happened again since then. I just don't understand how a fan could physically fall off the refrigerator when there was nothing moving it and it wasn't even on the edge. Does anyone have any ideas? If it was paranormal, I don't think it was a poltergeist or anything because I didn't experience anything else that was poltergeist-y besides the trauma of losing my dad recently. I did have another odd experience in the room, but I live in the same building again this year and besides those two events have never heard of anyone else experiencing anything.

If anyone is interested, I'll tell you all about the second odd experience in my dorm room. I just know that this post is already insanely long and I don't want people to skip it because it's so long. I genuinely want peoples' opinions of these experiences. If anyone needs more details about anything, please let me know. I know some of these stories seem pretty unbelievable. I still don't even really believe they occurred myself and they actually happened to me, so imagine how I feel. haha

[FAM] My aunt, uncle and cousins inherited a grandfather clock that seemed to correlate with strange activity in their home Thetruthishere

This is an account from my twin cousins, who are not prone to exaggeration, so I take them at their word on this:

About 15 years ago, my uncle (my dad's brother), my aunt and my two cousins (each 15 at the time) inherited a new grandfather clock when my aunt's father passed away. The clock is more than 150 years old and features intricate carving work on the body as well as paintings depicting 19th century rural life on the boarder surrounding the face.

The night before Thanksgiving, they put the clock in their foyer and wound it to get it running so that it would be on display when they hosted the whole family for the holiday. They proceeded to prep the house for the impending company, cleaning and setting out cups and dishware so they'd have less to do in the morning. That night, my aunt and uncle were woken up by conversation downstairs, followed by what sounded like marbles dropping on the kitchen floor. My uncle got up to tell my cousins to get back to bed, but as he passed their rooms, he noticed they were still sound asleep.

As he went downstairs to check it out, the talking stopped, but he noticed the cups they had set had been moved around as if they'd been used, and ice was scattered across the floor beneath the refrigerator's ice dispenser. Somehow, he shrugged it off (I would've moved out the next day), and didn't even mention it when we all visited on Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving night, after everyone left, one of my cousins was in bed when she heard what sounded like a little boy laughing. The door to the hall was open and when she looked to see what the sound was, she said she saw the shadow of a little boy run down the hall, followed by the shadow of a man in what appeared to be a top hat. In the morning, when she told her sister what she had seen and heard, she found out her sister had seen and heard it too.

Needless to say, that next night they slept in the same bed. They huddled together and pulled the sheets up over their heads, and when as they were about to drift to sleep, one was woken up by the sound of footsteps in the hall and noticed it had woken her sister up as well. The footsteps continued until the girls noticed the footsteps sounded closer, like someone was pacing across the wooden floor in the room with them. My cousin who was on the outside position in the bed pulled her covers down to peek and see if she could find the source of the noise, when she said she saw a shadowy figure stop and turn to look at her. She screamed and turned on the lights, and it was gone.

When my aunt and uncle ran into the room, she told them what she had seen, her sister backing up that she'd heard the footsteps. My aunt and uncle believed them, having experienced some of the strange sounds themselves. To this day, they say what was hardest at the time was that they couldn't think of anything to say to offer their daughters any relief.

A couple days later, my uncle had to leave town for a business trip, so my aunt and two cousins slept together on an air mattress in the living room. They had put on a movie for some background noise to help them sleep. At 330a one of my cousins said she woke up because the room had turned ice cold, despite the heat being on. The sleep timer had turned the TV off, but she said when they looked toward the glass doors that led to the back deck, she saw the silhouette of a little boy and little girl just inside the door, standing there holding hands and watching them sleep.

Horrified, she nudged her sister and mom, who both saw the children as well. My aunt jumped off the air mattress to hit the light and, and like that, they were gone. They said the room steadily rose back to its normal temperature, while the kitchen, just one room away, had stayed warm the whole time.

They weren't disturbed again for the two following nights before my uncle came back from his trip. When he got home, he noticed the grandfather clock had stopped, needing to be wound again. The time on the clock was 330.

The four of them connected the strange happenings to the clock, especially since the activity seemed to stop when the clock did. They never wound the clock again and they've not experienced anything since.

For whatever reason, they never got rid of the clock (I would have burned it). My aunt and uncle have since divorced, and she keeps it in the hall of her new apartment, but still, 15 years later they haven't experienced anything else, and they've never wound the clock since. To this day, they won't use the word "ghost" to describe the figures they saw. In fact, they don't like to talk about it at all. But when they do, you can see their faces genuinely turn white with fear, their eyes get glassy and the hairs on their neck stand up.

I won't behaving any grandfather clocks in my house.

TL;DR: My aunt, uncle and cousins inherited a grandfather clock and experienced strange activity whenever the clock was wound.
