How to fix Restaurant Glass refrigerator door hinge? DIY

I have done a few hours of research.

I finally found the Hinge I need. But it's $96 and nothing really broke except the screw receiver. The bolt Receiver cracked and it broke, which caused the door to fall off Hinged.

Would like to build an air conditioner and a refrigerator (not fan-over-ice). DIY

I confess that I earned a mechanical engineering degree, and while I could pass tests about the mathematics behind AC and refrigeration, I never truly “got” the practical side of these devices- I’m assuming that the components don’t actually look like two-dimensional rectangles. That’s something that really bothers me. I noticed that both air conditioners and refrigerators share some major components: compressor, condenser, evaporator. I thought I could deepen my understanding if I could build each of these devices from scratch. I must have searched online for 20 hours on AC alone, and mostly I just found the cooler/ice/fan thing. Where could I find DIY instructions on building an actual AC and refrigerator? It’s strictly for my own understanding of how the components actually connect and work, and I don’t mind spending money on it. It’d probably be a better value than my Fundamentals of Air Conditioning Systems class was.

Needing advice on how to cool a metal box roughly 1"-1"-1"6' DIY

I have been using a Costco brand toolchest for the last year or so now, and i would totally recommend them to anyone looking for a toolchest, being well made and cheap as hell to boot. However, i have found myself craving a cold drink, as my garage doesn't have a fridge, nor does it have the space for one. I am planning on turning the metal locking boxincluded in the toolchest into a refrigerator, but have no ideas on how to make it work in an effective manner. Any advice would be appreciated :)

What material can I use to cover gaps in outdoor bbq? DIY

Just had a bbq made. Contractors did a crap job of sizing the bbq doors and refrigerator cutout. Whatever, it is done. I need to know what material I should be looking for to cover up the holes. I'm assuming wood is out because outdoors. Something thing and plastic? Bonus points if I can blend it into stucco using some sort of spackle just so it isn't obvious. Also, what would I have to use to glue said material to the existing stucco?

Bought a house and the new refrigerator I bought has a 1/4’’ water line that won’t fit this valve in the wall. I’m guessing this is a 3/8’’ connection in the wall. Any tips on what to do? DIY

Controlling Portable Generator Fuel Consumption DIY

Is there a safe, reasonable DIY way of doing this? I purchased a Generac 5500 for home use during Hurricane Irma, and I was surprised to see it go through over 5 gallons of gas in less than 12 hours. I only need to run my refrigerator a phone charger, and maybe a couple of lights. I know, I should have purchased a smaller generator, but any port in a storm (pun kinda intended). Over fridge cabinets 1 inch too low... DIY

My mother's fridge just went tits up and I have dumped a good deal more than it is worth into repairs.

This is a newish fridge, but just out of warranty. It was bought because it was the only one on the market that would fit her existing cabinets. It will take a major effort of will to convince her to move the cabinets, and then only because I have literally driven around town to every department store with tape measure in hand and measured every refrigerator that fits her demands. It's nuts but she is who she is.

I am not putting any more money into a machine with such poor performance. Time to buy a new one. The problem is that my kitchen over the fridge cabinets are 68 inches high, and I cannot find a decent fridge that isn't 69 inches high. I have done a huge amount of footwork here, and there is no getting around the fact that there are not good 68-inch fridges out there anymore. The industry for some reason has decided to make them an inch taller.

So. How do I raise the damned cabinets? This is not a case of "buy and install new cabinets. I need to work with existing materials. Nor is it a case of "fix the fridge again." I have literally put about 2500 dollars into this piece of shit. Word of advice: don't buy kitchen aid refrigerators. Very poor quality.

I'm buying a new refrigerator and I would like to put something underneath it so it better aligns with my height. Seeing pictures of the product online I saw that it comes on top of a pallet in the box.

How dead am I if I just leave the thing underneath it?

My water smells like chlorine. Neighbors water does not and it is only from lines hooked up to water heater. DIY

I am not sure what is causing this. At first I thought maybe it was all over but my neighbor said his didn't and I actually checked the chlorine level of another neighbor's and it showed hardly any. When I tested mine it is higher than the pool level I have in my backyard and I am not sure what would cause this. The only lines in my house that are giving me the chlorine smell are the water lines that run both hot and cold water. My refrigerator that is hooked directly to the water line shows hardly any chlorine and neither do the hoses outside. Any help or what my next step should be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Homeowner who smells like he just came from a pool when getting out of the shower.

Refrigerator electrical shock DIY

Hi. I'm having a problem with my refrigerator kegerator.

When the unit is not "on" (i.e. I can't hear the motor humming but it is plugged in), I receive a mild electrical jolt when i touch the handle, the metal strip, or the metal faucets coming off the side.

 

The painted surfaces do not conduct, and I do not receive the shock when I am wearing shoes. I only receive the shock when I am bare foot on the concrete floor. I do not receive even a mild shock when wearing shoes/sandals. I do not receive a shock when the electrical hum turns on, with or without shoes.

 

The previous owner reported no similar problems. If I recall, it was on a linoleum floor (this was a craigslist purchase). The wheels are hard, like an old school office chair.

 

I have checked for any exposed wiring coming into contact with the frame and don't see any. There is no cover for the YT relay pictured. I am a novice but I know not to screw with anything while its plugged in, and if there is no obvious cure I can call someone more qualified.

fix for samsung refrigerator evaporator coils freezing? DIY

This problem first popped up 2 months ago when I heard ice hitting the fan in my fridge (Samsung RF217ACRS). After letting my fridge defrost for ~24 hours and then seeing how fast it froze up, I got this. Searching through Google/Youtube, I saw that apparently plenty of Samsung fridges have this problem. I switched the evaporator drain clip with a new one and it looked like this for a while. Great! Well that only lasted for 2 months. This time, it didn't get to the point of the ice hitting the fan. I did see ice peeking through the evaporator cover so I did the whole 24 hour defrost again and decided to replace the defrost sensor and add a copper wire. Well looking here, it doesn't seem to be working. It's already icy. Should my next step be to order a new heating element? I'm not sure what else could be the issue. Or should I just wait out and see how this new defrost sensor works, considering it has only been a few hours since that was put in?

Also note, I did not have the problem of my fridge not cooling or water leaking. Just lots of ice on my evaporator coils.

Gfci next to refrigerator popped every time refrigerator came on. DIY

I couldn't figure out why and electricity is like voodoo magic to me. Replaced the gfci, it still popped. I was worried my relatively new fridge had an expensive problem. But then I pulled out the fridge and it had tons of dust in it everywhere. I vacuumed out all the dust, wiped off the fan blades, and voila! Gfci hasn't popped since. Fridge is also MUCH quieter now. Whew! I don't understand why this worked but thought I'd post in case someone somewhere finds this useful. And if someone understands why this worked I'd love to know.

How to achieve this infinity window light effect in side panel? (see picture) DIY

Hello. So I decided to do a home DIY project, and I want try to take the light effect seen in some of Monster Energy's refrigerators and replicate the effect in my PC case's glass side panel. The light effect I'm referring to is exhibited here http://ift.tt/2jl5gOd As you can see, there is a logo in the window, which is illuminated by lights. You can see that there's a sort of infinity mirror effect going on with the logo, creating the effect that there's multiple layers of the logo being seen. I would like to replicate this effect in my case's side panel window, using my own personalized logo.

Inwin did something similar with their Infinity 805 case. However, the difference is that they made it into an actual mirror. I don't want it to become a full mirror like theirs. I still want it to be as transparent as a window and still function like one, exactly as seen in Monster's fridge. Does anyone own a Monster fridge with this light affect and/or can explain to me how to reproduce it in window? Thanks for any help.

Help repair my refrigerator? DIY

The short of it is my freezer coils frost up and then the fridge won't get cool (top freezer, bottom fridge). Thawing out the coils fixes everything for a couple weeks and then need to thaw again.

Having said that, you would assume a part of the defrost system would be broken or vents are blocked, but I have tested all the parts for continuity and none of them are broken and made sure the air can flow. Below were the parts I tested and the results. I'm not sure what else to try, please give me a suggestion! Thanks!

It's a GE fridge model GTS18IBRRRBB. In order of what I have tested:

• I took out the heater coil (part 618) and checked for continuity. I got around 36 Ohm resistance, so should be good.

• I then cut out the defrost termostat (why there isn't a clip harness is beyond me) (part 620) and tested for continuity while it was cold (closing temp is 28 F. Text on termostat is L58-30F) and at room temperature. It acted as expected. Continuity while cold and no continuity when warm.

• I then took out the timer. (part 648) and checked continuity between the pins for common and compressor/fan, advanced the timer until it clicked, and then checked continuity between the pins for common and heater. All checked out. I did a few continuity tests between the wires of the harness and didn't find any breaks either. The screw for advancing the timer is exposed in my fridge, so I can see that it advances on it's own. I put a mark on it and checked periodically that it has moved.

Where to position RO unit faucet that's not in kitchen? Does it have to be in the Kitchen? DIY

I the process of selling our house. Well and water inspection came back bad for nitrates 11.29 mg/L (Limit 10 mg/L). Realtor says I must install a RO unit. My understanding is legally I have to provide a source of palatable water.

Does the RO unit faucet have to be in the kitchen? I have little room around the back of my sink. There is a Point Of Use Hot water faucet on left, the main faucet (one hole) in the middle and a flush push button switch for a disposal on the right side. Sink is undermount composite with granite countertop.

Can I connect RO output to water and ice dispenser in the refrigerator?

I am not looking for legal advice. I am looking for ideas, options, input as to where I can put the faucet.

How do I test the output? There are 6 pins. It says 1-2 is 26V and pin 6 should be 12.5V?

I'm not sure exactly what pins to test on for testing both voltages?

Refrigerator/Freezer diy repair help request. DIY

I bought this Fridge about a year and a half ago. Recently it has not been cooling properly especially in the freezer compartment. It gets cool enough in the fridge, but the Freezer doesn't consistently get below freezing, and definitely doesn't get to the target 8 deg F. Eventually an error code popped up F DH, which my googling revealed was the defroster wasn't defrosting fast enough and could mean the coils are frosted over. I pulled the back panel out of the freezer to discover the coils were very iced over not just frosted. I used the wife's hair dryer to melt it and gave it a couple hours with a fan to dry out.

I plugged the unit back in and it took a long time to get cold enough we felt safe putting food back in the fridge compartment, but the freezer still won't get to temperature. Then this morning before work I noticed that the same error code has popped back up. I haven't had a chance to look at the coils again, but I would be very surprised if that level of ice has built back up in just one day.

I've not replaced anything yet because I don't know how to properly diagnose my problem. LG calls for support have been no help at all and the "smart diagnosis" led them to tell me it's too warm. I'm just wondering what I should look at or where to further troubleshoot as I've never done work on a fridge, but I would think I could do anything besides Freon if there is a leak. I'll probably the coils after work today. If I find a large amount of Ice again I would guess the water line might have a leak, but that's all up in the air again. Sorry if I ramble a bit, I am just a little lost on what to do here.

Wiring an outdoor kitchen help DIY

going to renovate a poolside gazebo that currently powers a light, a ceiling fan, and two outdoor outlets.
