I want to buy a new refrigerator and prefer the side by side style. I've been looking at a Whirlpool WRS588FIHZ that has 28 cu. ft. of space. Some owner reviews mention a high pitch, humming noise it makes. One owner said that is caused by a variable speed, inverter compressor. Is the high pitch, humming noise normal for an inverter compressor? Are inverter compressors reliable?
