This is all a few days ago and I related parts of it to my friend and she said it was weird.
First E/Nmom had apparently been watching some youtube blogger who said that sugar and flour were like crack cocaine and here's why. Some of it sounded like the blogger saying they were processed the same and were also white and powdery. E/Nmom has no ability to evaluate her sources whatsoever and thinks that was a brilliant idea and proceeds to interrogate me on how I should be agreeing that sugar and flour are just like cocaine and why aren't I? I gray rocked her hard.
Later that day she says the neighbor called and asked if we want any of this lemon mousse cake she had made. This neighbor makes the best cakes and pies I've ever been near. I said I did want a slice so E/Nmom called her back and said we would be happy to get a slice, telling me she wouldn't be eating it.
We picked it up on the way to feed my mom's friend's cats and took a slice after/while E/Nmom asked about the ingredients and the sugar count like she does. At the cats, E/Nmom took a knife and cut the slice she had accepted in half and left half for the friend with the cats. I was protesting this a lot and feeling kind of possessive because it was pretty clear that she didn't want me eating this cake no matter how long it took me to eat it. I'm sure her friend would be kind of surprised at a new cake sliver in her refrigerator.
How weird is it that she's doing all this? I kind of feel it ties in to her sugar hatred and her conviction that if I eat sugar I'm going to automagically become a diabetic and die of heart disease and/or diabetes just because my dad's side of the family had diabetes and her dad died of heart disease.
