Alright guys - tips on rebuilding credit personalfinance

Hey All - I've finally gotten myself a savings account, and been able to manage a cash flow budget for the past 3-4 years.

However, I would like to rebuild my credit, as it makes life in general less stressful.

There are 2 active collections on my account, and a few non-active paid off ones. There is also a refrigerator loan from a sears outlet that is fully paid and never went to collections. The 2 active accounts are

Medical collections for $479. Age 5 years, Opened 3-1-13

Apartment collections $2,324 Age 5 years, Opened 7-1-13

Credit score between 534 - 582 depending on the agency

My questions are as follows -

What can I do to rebuild my credit? What options do I have in the way of credit cards?

I'm not looking for any major purchases at the moment, and I'm not looking to go wild with a card (if I were able to get one)

With the age of these accounts I don't think outright paying them off will do much of anything

Basically everything I apply for gets declined.

Thanks all
