Freezer-less Fridge + Upright Freezer bad idea? homeowners

In your opinion would it be a good idea to get a freezerless (All-Refrigerator) Fridge and an Upright Freezer instead of a large traditional fridge.

Background: I'm moving into a house with a narrow kitchen and a smaller fridge would be idea. Instead of spending extra for a small counter depth traditional fridge, I'm thinking of getting an freezerless fridge with a separate upright freezer in the garage (close to the kitchen). We do not currently own a fridge or freezer.
