I live in Florida and work in the food service industry as a shift manager. Today while on shift I took a break with my vaping gear and when I came back in I set it next to my register. Some time later 3 young men walk in and look high as can be. 2 place orders with their names and one of the phone numbers. Let's call them "J" and "K". K was the one to give his phone number for both orders. After they had gotten and eaten their food, the left. J came back in ~ 20 minutes later and asked to buy another soda. While doing so I had to turn to grab it from the refrigerator. During this time J grabbed my equipment and bottle of juice and stashed them in his pocket. I realized this later in the night as I was closing down. Now I remembered the encounter as weird so was able to bring up their orders, including the phone number of K Using this I was able to find his full name on Facebook, and through that found J, the real culprit. So I have the information on who they are, and went through the security footage and can see him grab my stuff in the footage. What would be the best way to proceed on this? From their Facebook pages they both work at a place not even 1000 feet away. They probably walked to my store. I want my stuff back as I can't afford to replace it at the moment, but I also don't want them to avoid punishment for their actions. They stole my stuff directly under my nose, on my shift, in my damn store. This is my first legal issue and I want to be prepared.
