Fast food work is the art of doing a billion things at once. That's what I did today. How was everyone else's day? CasualConversation

I used to weld, and fast food is a lot easier in a way because there isn’t all that much to remember. But it is kinda difficult.

First of all we’ve got 2 minutes to get the food out the door or else the managers get pissed. And we have the “drop then take” method. Before you work on a customer’s dog or burger or whatever you have to go to the fridge and pull out raw hot dogs or patties to replace it. And then you can start working on it the customer’s meal. Also some of our items take 4+ minutes to cook, like chicken wings and cheddar peppers.

This gets difficult when a bunch of orders start coming in and all the cooks are running around. And since the hot dogs are under the chest refrigerator I have to interrupt the grill-side cooks who are in front of it dressing the burgers. This saps even more of my time.

And since the other fridge is broken I have to run all the way back to the walk-in whenever someone orders onion rings, apple slices, or eggs. And of course since I’m on fryer side I’ve got to be dropping fries and tater tots the whole time, then running back to the fridge to get cold ones to fry on first drop, and then scooping the fries and such for the order, and if the car hops are busy help with bagging. Ugh.

Anyways how was your guys’ day? And what did you do?
