We have a 2014 F250 and a 2002 Forest River 5th. I was looking at how we are 'covered' by insurance. 01) Geico w/collision, comprehensive. 02) Ford 6 year extended warranty 03) Good Sam Club (for discounts, not really insurance). 04) Good Sam Roadside Assistance Platinum (for RV). 05) RV Insurance through Good Sam. 06) Thinking about Good Sam Extended Service Plan (5th is a 2002). All in all, it costs roughly $2,500/yr. If I add the extended service plan it would be another $622/yr.
So far, I have used Geico twice for damages to the truck that occurred due to hit and run, and an uninsured motorist sideswiping me on the interstate while towing. Good Sam Club has saved us money on propane while traveling (pays for membership). Never used or needed roadside assistance. RV insurance has bought us a new awning after a wind/rainstorm blew up. In a year or so we will be fulltime and the extended service plan intrigues me. Mostly to fix (if needed) slides or axle related problems that would keep us from rolling down the road. It would also cover refrigerator, stove, toilet, major appliances. What does everyone else do for coverage? My greatest fear is being stranded. The truck is new and solid (<30000 miles), the trailer is well maintained but I worry about not being able to roll down the road (slide won't go in, axle breaks, bearing seizes). Am I being to paranoid or just enough or should I have more. Looking to find out what other fulltimers carry for insurance on older units.
TL;DR How much insurance do you have?
