Hi Redditors! This is probably the most dramatic event that I am experiencing [insertsarcasmvoicehere].
Anyway, I'm 23 year old female, and still living with my parents at the moment. Recently, our decade old refrigerator has been spoiling our food a lot faster than usual. One night my mom would cook some dinner, then leave some leftovers in the fridge. 2 days later, the food tasted sour. Then, before that, my parents bought some milk. 4 days later, it turned into tofu while I was making hot chocolate.
My dad was checking the fridge, corner to corner, but he said nothing was wrong with it. The temperature settings were fine too. I suggested to have it checked out by a handyman or get a replacement. Unfortunately, my parents, brother and my brother's wife laughed really hard, thinking that I made a hilarious joke. They harshly said they don't want to spend any money. Then, they just pretend that the fridge is fine and moved on about plans for our cruise vacation to Japan! I'm here getting food poisoning and just ran out of paid sick days!
I have no power to say that they are wasting money on vacation over home repairs. (I'm getting constant complaints from my parents everyday about having no money for replacing the flooring or our TV remote, yet they got money to go on vacation...)
Can anybody please help me on how I should approach this with my family about their decision with money?
