[question] Can I paint the back grille of this refrigerator with rust blocker? DIY

I'm restoring this fridge, and the grille shows some sign of light rust. I live by the beach. Is there any sort of functionality problem with painting this thing?

e: I'm asking more whether the paint will hinder the fridge significantly
