Playing the "missing object game" with a toddler... Parenting

No, nothing educational. Our 15-month-old simply makes things disappear every now and then.

Case in point: he took his socks out of his shoes this morning while they were sitting on the shoe-shelf. I found one on the floor in our laundry closet and just hoped that the other one was in the basket or would be found soon.

I just found the missing sock (at 11pm) in the refrigerator door, wedged next to a bottle of juice. Obviously, the kid isn't strong enough to open the fridge on his own, so he must have ninja'd it in there at some point.

So, does /r/parenting have any good stories along those lines? And when can I expect this to stop, if ever? We've already had to hide the trash can to keep him from throwing all sorts of important things away.
