I rented an apartment from December of 2013 to January of 2015 in Los Angeles. On December 31st, I gave my 30 day notice and I moved out on January 31st. However I left my television and food in the refrigerator. These were removed on February 2 which is when I turned in my keys. Today, I received a letter regarding my security deposit of $1000. The letter states that "mailbox keys and keys to the building were returned on February 2 2015 in which time that the tv was removed along with the food in the fridge. Rent for the month of February $1070." I understand that I turned in the keys late, but is there anything I can do about getting charged for the entire month? If anyone has any tips, I would be grateful as money is tight and I need my deposit. Thank you.
