Do you keep non-vegan food in your house? vegan

I'm moving out next week and getting my own place after living with my sister for over a year. Prior to that I was living with my now ex-girlfriend. Neither of them were vegan, or vegetarian, so there was always non-vegan food on hand. Before that I lived on my own, but was vegetarian, so I still had things like cheese and eggs, maybe some tuna fish, etc.

The thing that got me thinking was the other night I was at a friends house. She had fallen asleep after having a little too much to drink, and me and another friend were getting hungry. There was nothing really in the fridge to eat for either of us, though he had a somewhat easier time. I eventually settled on some spoonfuls of peanut butter. Literally the ONLY thing there that was still fresh and vegan. This got me thinking. If I have people over, and they want a snack or something to eat, will they find anything in my stock, or should I keep some "essentials" on hand just in case?

Now that I’ll be living alone and vegan for the first time, my refrigerator and cupboards are going to look a lot different than anyone else’s I know. I know you can eat some pretty crappy vegan food too, but I also eat very healthy, so there’s rarely, if ever, any “junk” food laying around. None of my friends are vegan/vegetarian, and neither are my kids. The only time I buy non-vegan groceries is when I have them over. I don’t like doing it, but I also don’t want to force my lifestyle onto them. Anything I buy though, goes home with them. So on a consistent basis, there will only be vegan food in my place. Usually if we go to someones home, its after the bar and spur of the moment, not a planned evening. I don’t like the idea of keeping stuff on hand, just in case, but I also want to be considerate of my friends.
