Hey guys this my fourth PC build. This one is a personal gaming rig (monster?). I'm trying to get as much power into this computer as I can squeeze, while trying to maintain as efficient (i use the term lightly) with money as possible.
There's the build. It's an expensive monster. The reason why I chose such an expensive CPU is not only do I play many CPU focused games (such as world of warcraft) but I do a lot of game design and programming and sometimes my current i5-2500 just doesn't cut it.
I already have a decent cpu cooler that'll do the trick. I'm more worried about a GPU cooler. GPUs tend to get very hot and an extra GPU cooler would help push a little more performance out of this baby.
I already have 2 1TB WD 64MB 7200RPM HDDs so I might just skip those 10k RPM HDDs. We'll see.
As for the case, I have no idea what to get and am fully open to recommendations. I HATE dust, and I HATE dusting even more. I prefer my cases to look more like a box or a refrigerator with dark colours then something flashy with LEDs coming out every nook and cranny. Clear sidepanels not necessary, none of that shit. I'm very much an ergonomic minimalist kinda guy when it comes to aesthetics.
That monitor might come later. I only included it cause why not. It looks so good, and I want to finally game on a high-res monitor at 1ms latency.
The RAM is 16GB of DDR4-2600 cause why not.
The video card is a single 980 with room for a second expansion. Only one because I don't believe SLI/Crossfire technologies are really quite there yet. It's really a hit or miss on some games and I seriously regretted buying a second 6950 back in the day.
My peripherals are already top notch (very proud of my ATH-M50x's) so I wont need new peripherals any time soon.
I'm willing to go up or down in performance if you believe it is a cost efficient decision :) Note I am Canadian and will be buying these parts in Montreal or Online.
