I own a business in which we make refrigerators for different companies. They often are excited to see new models e.g. new handles, drain trays etc for new refrigerators, but the problem we face is that in order to design a new plastic part, we first need to make an Iron mold/cast in which a machine shoots hot liquid plastic to take the shape of the mold. Currently, making an Iron mold is an expensive process, as the machine takes a lob of Iron and electrically chisels its down into the desired shape. This limits our capabilities to introduce different models. Question: I was wondering whether or not if there is a way to make an Iron cast/mold via 3d printer maybe use sand blasting technique or something else which can make Iron mold/cast, which can be used in the pressurized plastic machine to make plastic models for cheap and yet still is strong enough that it can hold the pressure of the plastic machine as in shoots melted plastic into the cast. Please note an i not talking about just 50 plastic parts, but more than that prob in 500's. Thank you for reading this.
