What would be an ideal magnet strength for this project? DIY

So I've had a problem in life where I really like water but I really dislike standing at my fridge holding a glass for a minute to get water ten times a day.

I wanted to hack my refrigerator and try to reprogram it to pour water and ice at set increments but that doesn't seem to be going well. My backup idea was to take two magnets, glue one behind the lever-block-thing that you press to get water and then sew another magnet into something like an elastic hairband I can put around my cup.

Then whenever I wanted water I could just place my cup at the fridge, the magnets would attract, water would fill up, without me holding the cup, and then finally I could take the cup away filled with water and enjoy the 18 or so seconds of relative freedom I just had.

TL;DR: My problem is I don't know what strength magnet is strong enough to make this work without making it too strong that pulling away my cup would be a pain and cause water to fly everywhere or the magnet to be ripped from any glue or such that held it to the fridge.

I was thinking of going with 2 of these 1/4 x 1/16 inch Disc N48 magnets, is that too weak though? It says they have a 1.5 lb pull under ideal conditions.
