Now, I’m not a really dedicated player. I go up to the local field every few weekends, rent a gun, and play some rec. But I had an idea, and it was worth sharing:
15 v. 15 capture the flag…in Home Depot.
To set up, you’ve got an old Home Depot, removing any of the obvious hazards and replacing the expensive equipment/merchandise with, older, cheaper ones. On opposite sides of the warehouse, some hazard tape will be put on the floor marking both team’s bases, with a pole in the middle supporting a 1x2 foot flag. Each player is equipped with a walkie talkie set to a certain frequency for strategizing and communicating across the warehouse, but the other team may figure out this frequency and listen in, and if the first team realizes this, they may change frequency. Every five mintes, a resupply of paint and the rest of the team that was out is given to each team. The resupply will be announced over the intercom. Each team will have three minutes to formulate a plan, during which time they can’t leave their base, before the game officially begins.
Like any capture the flag match, you have to capture the flag, then eliminate the opposing team. The resupply will not return teammates if the flag is in the other team’s base, but will if it’s stuffed in a dryer somewhere. Teams can recover their flags, but won’t cause an automatic teammate return. Caching paint and flags in refrigerators of something is not only allowed, but encouraged. Camping in shower displays is also allowed. It’s up to the field’s discretion whether or not they want foodstuffs at the register, or if they allow players to eat them in the middle of the game.
I think it would be awesome.
