I'm a college student, and in my apartment we have 2 fridges for all of us guys. One of them is a normal full size fridge, and the other is like a half size fridge, a Haier Refrigerator model #HSE12WNAWW.
Recently, I realized that the fridge is no longer staying cold enough. I got a thermometer and it is now hovering around 50 F. Additionally, the freezer cabinet is completely frosting over to the point that I can't open it, and the inside is full of frost. Obviously, something is wrong with the defrost cycle. The last thing is that I never hear the fridge making like the whirring noise, so to speak, that it normally periodically makes.
Last night I unplugged it to let it defrost over night, which should help for a time at least, but I need to repair this thing permanently. What does it seem like the issue is? A fan being broken? What should I look for if I take this apart?
Thanks so much, I really can't afford to have someone come in to repair this for me.
