Trying to understand libertarianism... I have a hypothetical situations, so could some of you explain them to me? Libertarian
I'm trying to understand what libertarianism is about, so I've come up with a few thought experiments that you guys should easily be able to explain. If the question is flawed (for example I have a misconception of how an ideal libertarian system would function), then saying it is flawed is also an acceptable answer.
A group of researchers discovers that the use of a certain chemical, Freon, allows refrigerators to be built extremely safe and cheap. Discarded refrigerators using Freon also deals an unsustainable amount of damage to the environment.
--Question--: Should the production of these refrigerators be allowed to continue?
Following an outbreak of a certain disease, there is a need for large amounts of medication for that disease, and unfortunately, the medication is not common. The owners of the medication distribution chain decide to charge 100x the regular amount for the medication.
--Question--: Should these people be allowed to do this?
A group of researchers makes a breakthrough and a large corporation uses the fruits of their research to increase their profits. The researches derive no benefit from their work.
--Question--: Should something like copyrights exist to prevent this from happening?
A company sells a very addictive drug.
--Question--: Should this be allowed?
Basically I'm trying to get a feel of how / if consumer protection is handled in a libertarian system.

Refrigerator safety and the State Libertarian
I stumbled on this article from the front page: http://ift.tt/1IslK0B
Basically, kids were getting trapped in abandoned refrigerators and dying; this continued until legislation was passed forcing refrigerator manufacturers to keep the doors shut in such a way so that they can be opened from the inside.
My thoughts would be that consumers would've preferred the safer fridges and so state action was unnecessary - yet in this case, consumers didn't seem to care much, and the laws most likely saved some lives.
I think a libertarian with common sense could still support a law like this. Yet I guess many would find a law like this unlibertarian. What are your thoughts? Should fridge manufacturers have been made liable for the deaths?

Why The Free Market Education Can Work Libertarian
When people think of a free market education, they picture a white man with a monocle twirling his mustache on top of a pile of money. Why? Because they haven't looked into the free market education of South Korea, where students rank far higher in math, science, and reading than students in the US.
There is free market education all around us. Why aren't there government run martial art and ballet schools? Because there is no need for them! The free market works for all forms of education.
The key to free market education is entrepreneurship. If the free market can successfully sell society refrigerators or washing machines, couldn't they do the same with education? This is why arguments that say 'free market education would be too expensive' fail.
I'm sorry. I titled this wrong. Why The Free Market SHOULD Provide Education.
