Is a refrigerator water filter necessary when using a 5-stage reverse osmosis system, and vice versa? HomeImprovement

Our house, which we have owned for two years, is serviced by private well and septic, both of which were neglected by previous owners and have experienced major failures in the past month to the tune of over $3,000 in repairs. On the bright side, we sure have some clean water, thanks to a 5-stage reverse osmosis system. I'm being a little sarcastic, but the question is, with the RO system downstairs, does that make the filter on the fridge overkill? The water pressure is terrible so I'm wondering if removing one of the filters from the equation would improve pressure, not to mention cut our overall cost of water filtration in half. There is also a separate, smaller water faucet at our kitchen sink that obtains water directly from the same supply line without a secondary filter.
