I need help to make Soylent more mobile for school. soylent

Hello Everyone,

Background:

I'm a grad student who consumes 70% of my daily calories from Soylent. I have been known to spend 12 hours at school before coming back home. I don't know the best way to continue bringing Soylent to school.

Daily Consumption

I consume ~600 calories for breakfast and take ~1,000 calories to school in a plastic water bottle. This does not always provide enough sustenance which causes suffering. To add to that, the plastic water bottle needs a serious soaking in order to not smell horrible for the next day. Clearly this is not ideal and I am assuming its the plastic that is causing the problem.

I've done some research and found set of 6 glass containers that are dishwasher safe which would be REALLY nice. However, they are too small as they would only hold ~800 calories.

Question:

Do you have any suggestions on something that is easy to wash, would fit into a community refrigerator, and have enough room for upwards of ~1500 calories of Soylent?

Thanks!

Nate

Co-worker stealing my Soylent soylent

I caught a co-worker stealing my Soylent out of the refrigerator in our break room. I confronted him about it and he just laughed it off saying he was going to pay me back. I don't want to get into the inevitable drama that would ensue should I report him.

I was hoping to find a pitcher with some form of lock on it that would fit the same quantity (2 qt) as the pitcher Soylent sends when you first subscribe. I'm having a lot of difficulty finding anything close.

Do you guys know of any products that might fit what I need? I'd be happy with any sort of locking mechanism, even if it's just a loop that I can put a small padlock on. Also, it doesn't have to be 2 quarts, but close to that would be preferable.

I appreciate any ideas.

Can I survive without a refrigerator making my own powder Soylent? soylent

For context, I will move out to my first house in about 2 weeks, and that is when I'll begin a 100% Soylent diet for the first time.

I will miss making popsicles though!

Can you keep Soylent in a Thermos? soylent

I am a college student, so what I am thinking of doing is preparing one pouch of soylent at night, putting it in a thermos and leaving it the refrigerator, and then I can carry that around the next day and drink my cold Soylent over the course of the day. I have heard that Soylent can sometimes ferment, cause pressure to build, and make certain containers leak and explode out from the seal. Has anyone tried something similar to what I have proposed and had it go okay, or are there issues?

Seriously, what the fuck Soylent? soylent

https://youtu.be/Qsmpmzo5Gu4

Seriously, what the fuck Soylent?

This is actually the second time this has happened but I just tacked it up to a fluke the first time.

This particular bottle came from a batch I ordered about a month ago and has been stores in the refrigerator.

I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt but I'm struggling here. Food/drink companies should and are held to a higher fiduciary standard to the public and breaching that is what pisses me off the most.

I hope there's a reasonable explanation for this or some science shit I don't understand.

That was my breakfast and I'm scared as fuck to grab another one. Now a nigga gotta walk over to dunkin donuts with my equilibrium all fucked up and get some munchkins or some shit.

TIFU by adding Soylent(RTD) to my cereal. soylent

Sitting at home this morning with no milk in the refrigerator, but wanting something sweet for breakfast I opted to pull out the Soylent and pour it over my Fruity Pebbles. The cereal absorbed the Soylent so fast and quickly it became a soggy congealed bowl of slimy sweetness. I honestly couldn't finish the bowl I had made and had to dispose of it. Obviously it's great on its own, I love the neutral flavor, but this wasn't the time nor the place to substitute such a thing.

Is Using Empty Soylent 2.0 Bottles for Mixed Soylent 1.7 Asking for Trouble? soylent

The 2L Soylent pitcher takes up some valuable space in a shared refrigerator. What about mixing a bag of powder, then decanting it to empty, rinsed Soylent 2.0 bottles? Would this be risky?

I don't know if 2.0 bottles rinse clean, or if I would end up needing a bottle brush and dish detergent.

The idea is, mix the pitcher, pour it into five bottles, tighten the lids, then put each bottle into the refrigerator either upright or on its side.

What particular way do you use your Soylent? soylent

What I've been doing is making 1 pack of Soylent every other day (I use a blender). Along with the Soylent I add 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder. I'll pour half of the blender contents into shake bottles and take them to work with me. Ill have 1/4 of the blender contents at the beginning of my day, have a small meal of solid food in the middle, and have another 1/4 of the blender contents at the end of the day. I save the other half of the blender contents in the refrigerator for the next day. a two week supply last me a month.

Does anybody have problems with DIY people chow going bad within a week when mixed? soylent

I'm using a modified People Chow recipe just for breakfast.

Modifications I made to People Chow are:

Soybean oil > olive oil, peanut butter

Half of Masa harina > Oat flour

Different brand of vitamins.

Some milk

Chia seeds for fiber

I keep about 6 meals worth mixed at a time in the refrigerator and finish it over a week.

I find that though, by the end of the week, it ends up tasting funny. All the ingredients separately seem fine, and when I mix a new batch from the same raw ingredients, it tastes fine.

But seems that when mixed together, it turns bad a lot faster.

Anybody else have similar experiences?

Looking for a Soylent 2.0 cooler? soylent

I'm here to share my finding on a freezable lunch bag that fits (3) Soylent 2.0/Coffiest bottles absolutely perfectly.

I've been using it for the past 3 months every work day. It keeps it cold for most of the day so I don't need to use the refrigerator at work. I'm not associated with the company, just thought I'd share.

Question for discussion: how do you store your Soylent bottles?

Should I be concerned? soylent

I've been drinking 2.0 for several weeks and now have just started getting it through a subscription from amazon. I received my first shipment of 4 boxes and noticed that all of the expiration dates were that of JUN17, and people on here are accounting tho receiving boxes with AUG17 expiration dates (one's without the foil tops). My worry is that if the vitamins really only have a shelf life of a couple of months I'm well over that threshold if these were made in June of this year. I've also been noticing build up of powder around the mouth piece, I always shake before drinking but have been noticing sometimes large build up of chunky bits once I've finished drinking the product. I've seen others complaining about refrigerating 2.0 after being heated up causes coagulation issues, could this occur while shipping (I live in Las Vegas, NV)? Also I store my boxes at room temperature, and place one box at a time into the refrigerator.

How long can powder and Soylent 2.0 last in a hot car? soylent

I had a sealed box of 1.5 bags and some 2.0 bottles sitting in my car for the past 3 months.

Are these edible or will they still be safe to eat?

I've brought the bags inside and stored them in a dry cupboard and the bottles are now in the refrigerator.

They are all sealed and the powder was said to have expired 7/2016.
