Little Sister Came out. Need help & Advise. lgbt

So my little sister (she's 16 I'm 25) just told me to please come home. I did and she wasn't there, she told me to look at the refrigerator where I found a white cake with fronting that read "BI the way I'm a little gay"

I've always been super supportive of equal rights, and vocal about it. My best friend is gay but the news came a little shocking to me... She's been hanging out with this girl she met that has a long distance girlfriend and she always talks about her.

I couldn't believe it when it happened but I found myself thinking... Maybe it's a phase? I hated myself for it and thought of comming to reddit for advice.. She's going to be home any minute now.

What can I do or say so she will feel comfortable and loved? I obviously want her to trust me and I will love her, stand by her and fight for her tooth and nail but there's something that doesn't quite fit for me.. Could it be that she wants to call herself bisexual because it's cool? (I know how horrible it sounds but beleive me, I don't think for her it would be out of the question) If so... Why tell her family?

Please let me remind you guys that I love my sister and have no problems with her being whoever she wants to be in life.

My Uncle Keeps Calling Me A Fag lgbt

When I came home from the store yesterday, this is what I found on the refrigerator. Earlier that day my Uncle posted a note on the refrigerator calling me a fraud, because I had my name legally changed and I got a People magazine in the mail (which I got a subscription for taking a survey) and because I got mail (which I still haven't seen) from a web hosting service. He even added how many years in prison I could get for each of his charges. I was shocked and kind of laughed because none of these things are fraudulent. So I wrote a note simply pointing out how those things were not fraudulent, I also pointed out the two times when I was minor he got in my face and told me hit him so he could beat my ass. I let him know that I am too old for his childishness and I would like to be left alone and I warned him if continues to harass me I would get a restraining order and I will go to police. (I would post the note but it's destroyed, it was simple yet stern) This was his response "I DONT READ FAG." This wasn't the first time he wrote fag on a door, but it was different because I have had a long history with that word and when you're abused by the same person over and over and there is nothing much you can really do as you age it wears you down. I remained calm, left the note on the refrigerator and went about my night. I did feel sick, I got a headache so bad I thought I was going to die, I was sick to my stomach. I hate feeling I would get in trouble if I tell but I was trained that way to feel guilty even though I did nothing wrong. There are things that you keep private and family troubles was the big open secret no one talked about, family meetings were a joke blame was put on me and him my Aunt said "It's a lack of mutual respect" bless her heart. You don't blame the victim for his/her own abuse, that makes it worse. I honestly believe and have been saying it for a long time that man is going to kill me.

I'm a discrete black gay, I have a distance feeling for my Polish straight roommate, i need advice lgbt

It's my first time on reddit and i think its a good forum to let all out...

I know i am gay, why i said discrete is because i hardly make a move, neither want other people around me to know or just gay. Literally i am not out, and i fear to be out. And by that, i haven't told my roommate about my sexuality.

We are both college students, different courses, and his few months older than me in age and at the institution. When i first walked in the room, it was filthy dirty, the refrigerator, the washroom, the floor, wall, you name it. It couldn't understand how i am gonna live in this mess. I am quiet clean, organized and very smart in many things...so the next morning, he was a away, and i was my turn to transform the room at least to a livable environment. I did the job perfectly well. when he got back, he was blown away, amused, he almost cried, and at the same time he felt a little embarrassed. it went ok.

As the days go by, i realized his quiet clean, his transformed, taking three showers a day, i only do one, his wearing men cosmetic, expensive and his quiet a groom.

he once asked me if i have a girlfriend, i said no, asked him same question, he said, currently nope but he didn't wanna go in details. Many times he get into shower he takes forever, shaving, body toning, and God knows what else, he comes out smelling good, and he often say, please don't think i am gay...he says this a lot, untill i started thinking like, what's with the gay thing, he says it a lot.

One time his male friend (white), came over..we had few beers, and then the gay topic pop from no where, and his friend made a funny joke to him, "that, please come with me in my room, it's gonna be just me and you, i gonna rock your ass, really good." Of course i brushed off very fast, because i didn't want to be engaged in such a topic, but again, i asked myself, what if i asked questions, why do they talk lost about gay?

My roommate is definitely handsome, he mostly walk in the room with just underwear. Its hard to predict him though, he say, he likes me, because he feels so free with me than other roommates he had previously. and i noticed this by how he takes care of me while we go out dancing, when his drunk, his freestyle, he holds my hand even when i don't want to, he hugs me a lot and he always shouts my name just not to miss me around. But when sober, sometimes he doesn't talk...and recently i am developing something for him. i once walk up and found him looking at me, that was creepy but he quickly ignored.....what do i do, can i open up, do you think he might me discrete too? please advice

An Essay I wrote for my Human Sexualities Class lgbt


As with abortion, Same-sex marriage is yet another hot-button topic that is being debated in the political field, with the arguments against it coming primarily from those that are far within the religious right. You hear the arguments such as; it is “unnatural”, it will destroy families, it is against “God’s will”, that it will “harm children”, and so on and so forth. But the question becomes, are any of these reasons valid or accurate? Should any of the religious reasons hold sway when it comes to legislating what has been deemed a guaranteed right by our Supreme Court? The answer to that, is no. Religion should not be a factor when determining laws that give or take away rights from individuals in this country.


Once the religious factors are removed from the equation, then it is left to psychology and science to help us determine whether same-sex marriage will harm our society. Does it harm children? No. In a country where there are countless children without parents, without a place to call home, same-sex couples that want to adopt children and form a family can only help, not harm children and it certainly doesn’t “destroy families” but instead, helps create families that are stable and happy (Crouch). Is it “unnatural” as the religionists claim? Science shows that homosexuality exists within hundreds of other animal species, so it therefore can not be called “unnatural.” (Fereydooni) Besides that, if we only allowed things that were “natural” within our culture, we wouldn’t have televisions, cell phones, clothing, refrigerators, or any of the other modern day conveniences that we typically take for granted. Those are the only arguments that could quite possibly be taken seriously in our courts, and science and psychology prove them to be based on nothing more than irrational emotions, outdated studies, and incorrect information.


A majority of the remaining arguments come directly from the field of religion and therefore are not valid when it comes to legislation. The 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution states “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion.” Or in other words, “we don’t make laws in this country because of religious beliefs.” The Supreme Court has stated a variety of times that marriage is a right guaranteed to all American Citizens (see* Skinner v. Oklahoma ex rel. Williamson, 316 U.S. 535, 541 (1942), *Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1, 12 (1967), and many others.) The US Supreme Court stated in the case Cleveland Board of Education v. LaFleur, 414 U.S. 632, 639-40 (1974) that “This Court has long recognized that freedom of personal choice in matters of marriage and family life is one of the liberties protected by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment” (14 Supreme Court Cases) and Section 1 of the 14th amendment (a.k.a. the “Due Process Clause”) states “No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” (14th Amendment) That should settle the entire matter. The Supreme Court has ruled marriage is a guaranteed right and that no citizen shall be denied equal protection under the law. Case closed. But unfortunately, it’s not.


I am completely baffled as to why the religious right has had such control over this issue for so long. This battle should have ended along with the battle for interracial marriage in the 60’s, yet many of the same weak, “Bible-based” arguments used to justify racial discrimination are still being used to justify discrimination against same-sex couples. It’s wrong, it’s unfair, and it’s long passed the time to end this ridiculous debate once and for all. It’s time for equality for all citizens.
