Lease Extension - Negotiating Unit Improvements? chicago
Recently got a lease renewal from my management company - they're raising rent (2.5%) which is, obviously, precisely the amount that won't push me to move out and keep me in the unit for another year.
It's through a relatively large realty company on the north side. While I fully intend on staying, there are a few improvements to the unit which would be great for both parties:
-
New Oven/Stove
-
New Refrigerator
-
New Windows
-
Radiator Maintenance
While I know I will never get all of these - has anyone had experience negotiating improvements before renewing a lease with a large realty company? I've never negotiated such a thing - any tips are greatly appreciated!

Stay warm, be safe. chicago
Even by Chicago standards, it's going to be very cold the next couple of days so be careful. Don't go outside unless you're prepared for it, have a backup plan to stay warm and check on your friends and neighbors, especially the elderly, to make sure they're okay.
Don't forget your fuzzy buddies, either.
If you can, this might also be a good time to donate a few dollars to one of the local homeless shelters or food banks. It's their busy time of year and unfortunately they need the help.
Me? I've got a fresh pot of chili on the stove, some cornbread that just came out of the oven and a refrigerator stocked with my favorite brew so I'm kinda looking forward to the chill. Party on, Chicago - it's winter, when the uglier your outerwear is the more fashionable you are. ;)
