What do you guys use? Anything fancier than just a mini-fridge?
Not entirely sure if it's the right subreddit but I hope you guys can help with this one:
According to the label, it's an "aromatized wine-based cocktail"
I just found this at the back of my refrigerator. Keep in mind, it's been sitting there since before its expiration date.
So I was just moving some stuff around and I found a 40oz with no cap on it sitting behind my couch. I had some friends over a couple days ago and we all had one or two of these, so I'm guessing that's where it originated.
I haven't had heat in my house for the last few days, so the room this was in has been in the 40's all week, so the bottle is still about refrigerator temperature.
The liquid in the bottle is right about at the normal fill line for a 40oz minus maybe one or two drinks.
The liquid is identical in color to a normal colt 45. It has no odor whatsoever, and it's lacking all carbonation.
I'm trying to solve this mystery mostly because I feel like I'd remember taking a giant piss into an empty colt bottle, but I also feel like I'd remember leaving a newly opened bottle sitting around in the first place. I'm also really bored.
Does anyone know if it's possible for malt liquor to entirely lose it's smell after being opened for several days? Is it possible that the alcohol evaporated out of the bottle leaving only slightly murky water behind? Does piss lose it's smell after sitting in the open for several days?
Can anyone think of any experiments I could do with some common household items that could help me differentiate between an alcoholic beverage and a bottle of human piss?
Small Edit: I also poured about half the bottle into a glass to see if it would produce a smell, and it still is completely odorless.
I just recently started drinking, and as such don't know a lot yet. I know that you don't keep beer in the freezer, but what about other stuff?
The first hard drink I bought was a vodka- Russian Standard. I stored that in the freezer. Earlier tonight I bought Jack Daniels, which is a whiskey. Where should I store that- in the freezer, refrigerator, or out in the open? I also bought a small bottle of Everclear since I've heard so much about it. I haven't opened the bottle yet; where should I store it- freezer, refrigerator, in the open?
I also bought Bailey's Irish Cream (which was delicious) a few months ago before I was 21- when I was in Germany and allowed to buy alcohol. If I buy something weaker like that, where should I store that?
If I buy rum, where does that go?
Basically my question is, for different alcohols: whiskey, rum, vodka, etc, where is the best/most common place to store them? Does it depend on the type of drink, or does it depend on the actually brand itself?
Cheers
I have been doing some research about infusing alcohol with other flavors. Everything I read says to store the infusion in a cool, dark place. My question is this: by cool, do they mean in a refrigerator? If not in the refrigerator, where do you store your infusions?
I am also wondering if any infusion recipes have worked well for you in the past. I plan on trying two gin infusions: raspberry with tea, and blueberry with lemon. What infusions have you tried and enjoyed?
My best guess is that they are from 2005 judging by the copyright on the bottom of the package. I don't drink very much so they sort of just went about there business. I couldn't find an expiration date so is it alright to assume they are still fine to drink?
