[advice] apartment not in good condition NYCapartments

So I signed the lease starting from first June and the guy was telling me that he will fix all the problems before I move in. I got my keys today (delay of 1 day but I'm fine with it) and I realised that the doors can't shut and the refrigerator is faulty. This means I can't move in till everything gets done. Do I have any recourse?

[Advice] My apartment building is a Sh**hole, but my landlord won't do anything about it. NYCapartments

[Advice] I live in Brooklyn, and my apartment building has several vacant apartments whose tenants have either died or abandoned due to eviction notices. Our landlords are doing nothing about the mess left behind (trashcans full of garbage... refrigerators and freezers full of leftover food, cockroaches everywhere, etc.). We have contacted our landlord (which is a corporation) multiple times about correcting these issues but they have not responded in any way.

Tonight, my roommates and I went into the apartment next door to ours, which was abandoned about 1 year ago (the door was unlocked). We saw trash and cockroaches everywhere, and the refrigerator/freezer full of old food.

I am not sure how to get our landlord to take this matter seriously. I fear that if we send pictures of what we saw in the abandoned apartment, they will try to prosecute us for trespassing. Does anyone have any advice for how to pursue this matter legally, or knows of anyone in the NYC area who could help push this matter with our landlords? Would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a roommate in a 2 bedroom apt NYCapartments

Hey! My lease ends at the end of March. I'm currently living in Bedstuy and love it over here but I'm flexible about leaving. Other neighborhoods I'm considering are: Bushwick, Crown Heights, Flatbush, Ditmas Park, Inwood, Washington Heights, Harlem, UWS. Really, I want to live somewhere residential, near a train, and not super far from Manhattan.

A roommate who cleans up after themselves in shared space is of primary importance, although I would really love to live with someone who also wants to create a comfortable home environment. Doesn't bring the party home, and doesn't have a bunch of strangers in the house. Someone who is respectful of home as a source of peace, and is both equitable and just.

My budget is up to $1150/month although I'd like to keep it under that. I'm not sure how more than 2 adults comfortably share a refrigerator so I haven't warmed up to the idea of more than 1 roommate. Nothing is set in stone, but I do have preferences.

Two of my roommates decided to leave the apartment (one finished grad school and the other wanted a one bedroom). We love the apartment - more than enough space, easy access to both the G and the 7 (<20 minutes into midtown) and other young tenants in the building.

The room easily fits a full/queen size bed, large dresser and desk. Utilities are not included which average 50-60 a month per roommate. The apartment has a new kitchen and bathroom. The location is unbeatable. We have easy access to the subway and are close to coffee/food/bars. It's a 10 minute walk to the Greenpoint NYSC.

I am 24. I've been traveling for work M-Th for the past 10 months, so I'm pretty much the ideal roommate (just kidding). I went to Penn State and this will be my second year in NYC. I'm looking for a roommate who is easy to live with. Prefer someone in their 20's with a similar background. Not interested in couples.

The kitchen comes with a microwave with many settings, kept clean and attached to a vent. There are four electrical outlets in the living room.

From the kitchen, there is a small hallway containing a 5 foot wide, 1 foot deep linen closet with sliding doors. Above it, there is a 20 inch high storage space, deeper than 1 foot.

Directly across from that closet is the bathroom. From the outer edge of the tub to the door is 4 feet, 4 inches. From bathroom wall to bathroom wall measures 4 feet, 10 inches. The tub is 18 inches wide, can be sat in, and comes with a shower head. There is a 23 by 20 inch window to release moisture and allow airflow in the bathroom. There is a pull cord activated light over the vanity mirror, which can be opened to contain small items, and a large ceiling light. There is one electrical outlet in the bathroom.

Finally, the bedroom is 10 feet, 8 inches by 12 feet. It fits a queen sized bed, end tables, shelves and still offers room to walk around the perimeter. There are two large 65x35 inch windows that give sun light in the AM. There is a built-in 28 inch deep closet. The breakdown is as such: there is a shelved portion for stacking clothes 20 inches across. The shelves are at 5 feet, 8 inches high - 4 feet, 4 inches high - 3 feet high - 1 foot, 8 inches high. The next section is 36 inches across and contains a rod for hanging clothes, and open space below for items, and a shelf above the rod for more items. Above the entire closet, is a 20 inch high storage space with sliding doors. Attached to the outside of the closet are three 13x28 inch shelves at the following heights: 6 feet, 2 inches - 4 feet, 9 inches - 3 feet, 4 inches. There are six electrical outlets in the bedroom.

The pictures have been taken with the tenant preparing to move out, the apartment will be cleaned by tenant previous to moving out. That will take place 7-10 days before May 1st, giving management plenty of time to paint, make small repairs, and add new features to the apartment.

There have never been roaches or bedbugs infesting this unit, to keep sure, an exterminator comes by once a month at no cost to you on Saturday AM.
