Big update coming soon? GlobalOffensive

17 days without update. Longest time without an update in the past 4 months, does that mean some thing? Or do we all get our refrigerator meme ready?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update for 7/7/16 GlobalOffensive

RIP to the 98% of people who might or might not have been perfect on Team Pick'Em up to now. But we don't need no updates for those, but we do for Fantasy Pick'Em points! Hopefully you know the drill: http://ift.tt/1AdXJWC

Size is close to 50 KB (though it wouldn't be surprising if it showed up as 0 bytes for some). Although extremely unlikely, if it does happen, more info will be edited in if available.

  • Here they are: http://ift.tt/29yetAd

    • Bonus: zonic, who is currently standing in for dupreeh on Astralis as a result of a surgery to remove that damn useless appendix, was added in the csgo_english file, so he'll show up just like THREAT with NiP at MLG Columbus 2016
  • Your global ranking percentage may change wildly within the first few minutes - give it a little while before treating it as a firm number as the GC will have to churn through who's where globally

  • We still have 3 more days of these updates, so that means 3 more days of random facts of my choosing. Today's topic: refrigerators.

    • Did you know that as refrigeration started to become commonplace in the early 1900s, in the US, dairy consumption increased by 1.7% and proteins by 1.25% annually after the 1890s?
    • Stay tuned for tomorrow's random fact, which might be a lot more predictable than the previous two based on today's topic. Sort of. But it will be about an aspect. Again, subject to change as I only pick these out some minutes beforehand!

Background/Ambient noises in newke - WTF?! GlobalOffensive

This map sounds like you're sitting in a god damn refrigerator. The only "quiet" areas are the T spawn, the T roof and the outside area. Everywhere else you basically have an un-mutable "listen to my $0.49 Walmart microphone I put on max volume and set it to always send" guy in the team. You know, the kind of teammate you would mute five seconds into the first freeze time.

Seriously what the fuck happened to "use sound to gather information about the positions of your enemies"? Yeah I'd like to but the omnipresent bullshit background noise kind of makes that impossible.

I'm too addicted to csgo.. My house just burned... GlobalOffensive

And one og the first things I thought of after getting my dog out was "do I have time to take my computer with me?".. Tonight was supposed to be the night I ranked up :/

Funny picture from the casualty department: http://ift.tt/1JppZIz

I wonder if their computers can run csgo...

EDIT - Full story. I've got access to a laptop at one of my father's friend's house now, and we're making puns and stuff atm... All good!

I was playing CS:GO last night and answering some support tickets - I'm the CEO of a Danish GSP. We had just ordered a new server, so I was setting it up with IP's, dependencies and stuff. A little past 4AM I decided it was bedtime. I went downstairs to get a glass of milk, but before I got to the kitchen I found that it smelled odd... Really odd. At first I thought our dog had pooped in the room where he sleeps (it didn't smell like dog shit, but I was really tired). When I didn't find anything, I just went to the kitchen to get the milk. I then realised the light in the refrigerator was on (light was coming out from a small gab). I tried to force it to close by pressing the thing upwords (the thing is a plate that should take care of turning off the light once the doors is closed), but without luck. I tried turning the refrigerator on and off (yes, classic) to see if it fixed the problem, but with no luck. I tried having it shut off for a while so I could try to get the bulp out without burning my fingers, but it wasn't possible... Now, this is where I made a bad decision, and you'll probably need some background info to understand why I decided as I did - but even then the choice might seem stupid. We've never really had money in my family. We've had enough to make it through the day and occasionnaly buy something used. The house where we live now is very badly insulated (don't know if it's the right word - wind goes through the roof, and sometimes there's snow in front of our doors inside), so the bills were really high. Some years ago, I started getting educational aid because I started studying, and I also got a job. In the past two years I had to lend more money to my father than I knew he would ever be able to pay back. That's how bad his situation was. Taking into account that he only had to support me and himself, not my younger siblings as he used to, and still had to lend thousands of dollars from me to make it through the day should indicate how much every penny means to us. Now, back to this morning: I discussed with my self whether or not I should wake him or not. I thought: "Nah, he's gonna be annoyed if the light isn't as problematic as I might think it is... I don't want to ruin his sleep". He's often told me that I'm an adult and should be able to take care of myself, and waking him because of a light just seemed... Stupid. I then thought: "Hmmm, should I just leave the refrigerator on? He's gonna wake up in less than one hour anyways, so I could just leave him a message, saying there's something wrong with the refrigerator". And so I did. Probably the worst decision of my life. It could've been the death cause of my father, and I didn't really think of that before I was standing outside while he was trying to put out the fire that I could've prevented. At around 5:10AM, he screamed my name. Not just once or twice, but several times, but I was just sleeping heavily (he told me that I didn't respond the first times). When I woke up, there wasn't any smoke in my bedroom since my door had been closed, and I had to go through another door to get to the kitchen. But, as soon as I opened the door to my bedroom, I could see smoke... My first thought? "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit" while I ran down the stairs. The thought of him being trapped crossed my mind, but when I saw him running around in underpants my next concern was the dog, but he had already taken care of him. He orders me to leave the house. After standing outside in underpants for 30 seconds, I go back in, up the stairs to get my clothes from the day before. At this point EVERYTHING upstairs was filled with thick, black smoke. I couldn't see anything, so I had to run up the stairs and try to fumble my way to the clothes. I then got downstairs and outside again. At this point, I heard nothing from him for 2 minutes straight, so I went back in, crawling on the floor. I spotted him running with a bucket of water while trying his best not to breath, but even I couldn't avoid coughing because the smoke entered my eyes and my nose, so I knew he had been inhaling a lot of the smoke. When I got out, I called 911 (112 in Denmark). I talked with her for minutes, and at some point she really started to annoy me. She asked all the questions that I had assumed - where do I live, what caused the fire, is there anyone else in the house and stuff like that... But then she started to ask about what form of house we lived in, and she just kept asking "is it a house, a villa, a farm, an apartment or anything else?" I got so mad at her that I screamed "IT'S A FUCKING REGULAR HOUSE IN THE CITY, DON'T ASK AGAIN". My father came out, grabbed the phone and started talking to her because he thought he had put out most of the fire, but then he saw the refrigerator caught fire again and went back in, despite the lady advised him not to. 4 minutes later, 3 firetrucks drove up to our house and started doing their job. I told them to take a look at my father since he had been inside a lot.

Fast forward a bit - we got picked up by an ambulance and was driven to the casualty department. They took some tests of our blood to see how much carbon-monooxide we had in our blood. My father had above 8%, I had around 2%. We had to breathe oxygen through masks for 3½ hours, and was finally allowed to go home after tons of blood tests. When we got home, the refrigerator was melted on top, the ceiling above the refrigerator had been removed (the fire had caught the ceiling), ALL of the ceiling was black, and it was very obvious where there had been spider web (it had gotten all thick and black). The floor was black and the kind workers had removed pictures, electronics and clothes from our home and stored it in a warehouse.

We called them to get to know where our stuff was, and they offered to drive to where we are (at my father's friend's) to drop off some of the items.

I wanted to take some pictures, but I used up all my battery answering replies here on reddit and chatting with my friends while being observed by nurses.

Petition to Revert AWP Changes GlobalOffensive

I think what needs to happen, is we need to gather up as many people as we can and come up with a signed petition to revert the changes made to the AWP.

The AWP has been an icon in the CS franchise history and now the gun has been completely ruined. Scoping in feels like you are sluggish and have a refrigerator on your back, making it impossible to use it the way it always has been used. Perhaps if we make an attempt to get Valve to hear us, they'll realize what a dumbass mistake they have made. If anybody has suggestions on how we could get in contact with them, I'm in.

Let me know what you guys think.

From noob to average... A story GlobalOffensive

Hello,

This is the story of my journey through match-making in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Enjoy.

It started that late summer evening in 2014, around June or so. School was out and I had fifteen dollars to my name. I had played source for years but stopped in 2009 due to loss of interest. And then a sale popped up, and I bought CSGO for the first time. I was always a competitive person, being a DotA 2 player, but never got into CS except for some friends. So I went straight into the game and went to a DM. My results were outstanding, I went 2 - 43.

So I then played with some bots for the next few days, trying to get my aim up, and watch some videos after a lot of frustration. I then decided to hop into match making. I was kicked from the first three matches I played. I lost the next few as well. After a week I finally had my ten wins, and I proudly received my rank, something I could clearly show off:

Silver II

I told all my friends that I was a Silver II, and then they called me a noob and idiot and "an equivalent of a potato's aim." All of which I took as compliments until I saw it: I was indeed the second lowest rank in the game. The Bizon was my weapon of choice, and the damage was o' so sweet.

It took me 67 wins to get out of silver, and into Nova I status, a new rank that I was so proud of, just to realize I am still a bad player. I then met this person, who we will refer to as "Panda." Panda was a unique individual. He was in the Army for rocket artillery, and couldn't hear anything. He loved alcohol nearly as much as an Irishman, but was clearly Hispanic. His aim was bad at best, but he was always fun to hang around with in a game. So we friended each other (how social) and kept playing. And playing. And playing.

Later that summer, marching band arose for me, and it took a vast majority of my time. I would no longer be able to see my beloved friend everyday on go, and being a section leader, my schedule was strict. It took 3 months for me to start playing again. I logged in that warm fall day, to see one name in particular stand out. A certain someone was playing CSGO. Panda.

I hopped on as "reed EN," and we played some games together, with panda still being a SEM. But we enjoyed ourselves. It was Inferno, and whilst losing a round, I chose to hide behind a refrigerator. It saved my life, and I got a spraydown with my P250. It gave me my new username, and the one that has stuck for months: Fridge.

Fast forward to all the weeks we continued playing, Panda had hurt himself and needed shoulder surgery. I was now a GN3, and he was a GN1. We played when we could, with him being forced to use a controller. Unfortunately, his lack of performance got to him, to the point I have not seen him play in over a week. It has been a sad time, but with doors closing you find a key to open another. This would be another man, and my future teammate, Plex. He was a GN4, and we created -exceL together one night. We, along with 3 other guys that joined along the way in random pubs, have created a team with great chemistry and some of the best times possible in a simple game...

I became our team's AWPer, spending ridiculous time with that rifle, and working on it constantly. It has gotten to the point that I am out awping some LE's in arena servers. Plex is a fantastic entry fragger, and the other guys on our team are great riflemen. Another guy on our team plays as the secondary AWPer, and we play really well together, winning most of our games. The game last night we beat MGE's and MG2's 16 - 4 on cache, with me leading at 31 frags, and the others at 20 or more (besides one).

It is now just past midnight on the 19th of Decmber, and I have just completed my 300th win is CSGO. Over 500 matches, 716 Hours, and 28,167 kills on my AWP later, it happened this last game. We had a bot since one guy abandoned prior to pistol round. It was 4 v 5 the entire game, and I was solo-queuing. Us, as a group of randoms, aspired to win. We fought hard, and a hard battle we fought. But we communicated, even with a broken mic and a crappy PC, we managed to take the CT Side on Dust II to 11 - 4. Our bot was ridiculous, and kept pushing mid, but we fought even harder, and shot even faster. Working together, we won 16 - 8. And with that, I took my 300th win.

My 300th win gave me the satisfaction I have been working on for months. I am finally a Master Guardian 2.
