[Request] Ozone device for refrigerator, need recommendation. BuyItForLife

hi folks,

Not BIFL but,

I have the typical 2 door refrigerator that most homes have, but an old model. Came with the place I rent.

I have heard of ozone pumps that you can install inside your refrigerator that would pump out small amount of Activated Oxygen (O3) at regular intervals, to keep the food items fresh.

I know nothing beats regular cleaning with white vinegar and luke warm soap, but I am a young bachelor (read very lazy). I have a maid who comes cleans the place once a month, but I have been noticing my Blackberries, Strawberries I keep inside my refrigerator gets mold by the 3rd or 4th day. I buy a lot of these because I make smoothies (again another lazy solution, i know), and I always buy fresh strawberries and blackberries from the local grocery store.

[Request] Ultra quiet and stylish mini refrigerator for media room BuyItForLife

Don't need anything big, just something to keep beverages cold. Main requirement: ultra, ULTRA quiet, don't want to hear this thing while I'm in the same or adjoining room, and mini fridges generally are loud as hell (knocking noises, humming noises, etc.). Looking good/stylish also important but noise is primary concern.

Budget is <$500 but willing to spend if it means zero noise (or close to it).

Thanks!!

[Request] Refrigerator Purchase BuyItForLife

Looking to find out where's a good place to purchase a refrigerator. Please for the life of god don't say Sears Outlet! I was just able to schedule a return pick up for a faulty freezer after a week of consistent attempts...Still not looking forward to the whole refund process "7-10business days" ... If I had 3 wishes one would be the demise of Sears

Is Best Buy a good option? Amazon? I live in Boston Massachusetts maybe you guys know a good local store ?

[request] Any reliable refrigerator brands? BuyItForLife

So glad I found this subreddit, def gonna be a regular. I attempted to search first, and didn't see anything that seemed to indicate this, so I probably effed up that effort.

I had a french door LG refrigerator for 6-7 years, and the motherboard and compressor grenaded and they literally could not get replacement compressor.

About a week ago (after 3wks with no refrigerator and lots of research) I bought a whirlpool french door refrigerator and while it had quirks, I had hopes it'd last. This morning I had exciting times where the refrigerator dispensed nearly the entire ice bin on the floor. (didnt stop until I unplugged from the wall: http://ift.tt/2eYKshv)

The retailer I purchased from agreed to take back this refrigerator back, but I have no idea what would be more reliable. I dont mind spending more for something that would outlast me or my tastes. (I am already thinking go with less features/gimmicks just so they are more likely to last longer)

Appreciate input

Glass food storage containers BuyItForLife

I'm looking at buying some nice glass food storage containers. Ideally they would be able to in the oven and refrigerator. I've looked at some of the stuff Pyrex has to offer but it just doesn't seem to be what it used to. I'm also reading a lot of reviews on Glasslock and that seems good. Lifefactory also seems like its making some good products, but again I only have amazon reviews to base things off of. Does anyone have any personal experience with good glass food storage containers? Any other brands I should be looking at? Lets just say money is not a factor and I'm looking to get the best the market has to offer.

Thanks!

[Request] Side-by-side refrigerator suggestions? BuyItForLife

Hey, first-time poster in this thread, so let me know if there's anything I'm doing wrong here.

We need a new refrigerator, and aren't sure what would be best. Our budget is around $1300 price range. We're looking for a side-by-side refrigerator with an in-door ice dispenser. We've looked at a couple of whirlpool, GE, and Samsung, but we've been seeing mostly really bad reviews. Also, we've heard good stuff about Kenmore, but I thought Sears was going out of business, so we were concerned about buying a product from them.

Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions. Thanks!

Looking for warm shoes or boots to use in refrigerators but look decent enough for walking around a sales floor. BuyItForLife

Pretty much what the title says. I want to find good boots or shoes that keep my feet warm in the refrigerator but don't make me look stupid walking around a grocery store. The dress code is black and brown pants so that might make a difference.

Need new refrigerator! What is the speedqueen of refrigerators? BuyItForLife

Price not an issue (mostly). Replacing a subzero that we had for 20 years, a new one is $16000. Wanted to know what others can recommend that has durable compressors. Tempted to go be the top of the line LG or Samsung but I'm unsure of their internal quality (sealed systems) and from my research it seems that if they break, you're SOL.

25+ year refrigerator? BuyItForLife

I think it's safe to assume that appliances--unless I buy something commercial grade--are not BIFL quality.

Having said that, I'm looking for a refrigerator that will last 25+ years until it needs to be replaced.

I don't care much about the configuration. Stainless steel is preferred. Even a brand recommendation would be helpful.

GE seem to make good appliances, even if they're a bit uglier than the competition. My dad's GE refrigerator is 27 years old and still running perfectly. I've read good things about LG and Samsung as well. It will be replacing a Frigidaire, which has been the single most obnoxious appliance I've ever dealt with. I wouldn't accept a new Frigidaire if someone gave it to me for free.

From what I've read online, it seems best to stay away from side by side units, and that the classic freezer on top configuration is still the best.

[BIFL Request] Refrigerator/Freezer & Range/Oven BuyItForLife

Bought a house and the in-laws are buying us new appliances as a house-warming gift! Lucky us! So now I need help figuring out which brand makes quality products these days.

We've had good luck with a Frigidaire range/oven and a Frigidaire fridge/freezer, both running strong after 8 years with no repairs needed at all. Wondering if there is a better brand out there, or if these are considered BIFL.

HEPL! :)
