How did you replace your bad habits? loseit

I'm listening to the audio book version of "The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life" and it's been a fascinating read. Habits are instigated by particular cues and satisfy a particular craving, and the easiest way to get rid of bad habits is to replace them with better ones that satisfy the same craving.

The cravings giving rise to for some bad habits aren't necessarily obvious, which can make them difficult to replace. For example: I like to eat fast food at lunchtime during the work week. I keep healthier, more convenient options in the refrigerator at work, but sometimes I'll just choose to go get fast food instead. So it isn't just that I'm craving food, or that I'm craving the convenience of a fast food meal (food kept in the office is MUCH more convenient!). Instead of simply food or convenience, my habit of going to get fast food might be cued by wanting to leave the office, or boredom. I'm going to try a few experiments to replace the fast food habit with better, healthier habits that satisfy the same craving to see if either of my hunches might be correct.

What are some bad eating/exercise habits you've overcome? How did you overcome them?
