Hey all,
We have a Whirlpool 33 Inch Top Freezer Refrigerator.
In the middle of the summer we got a ridiculously humid day, and the drain line on the fridge froze up. Not a huge deal, but we lost some food when the fridge warmed up. Took everything out, took off the icemaker (which had never been used) defrosted the coils, and unfroze the drain line. When I reassembled it, I decided not to put the icemaker back in, since it was never hooked up and was just taking up space. I sealed up the hole to the icemaker by caulking a plastic cap over it (it's airtight) and insulating the hole.
It now works to keep food cold, but it constantly builds up feathery ice crystals on everything, see photo here.
I have checked every inch of door seals for air leakage, triple checked the patch over the ice-maker hole, and defrosted the damn thing manually 5 times now.
Any ideas on how to fix this thing? Could anything besides an air leak be the culprit?
Thanks in advance!
