Went to the doctor and had a wake up call! I had just hit over 300 lbs. She told me I was much too young for this problem (she was so right) and encouraged me to cut sugar out of my diet. She also discovered (from blood tests) that I was severely vitamin D deficient and had hypothyroidism. For the first few weeks, I struggled but cut all sugar from my diet. But, I decided that I needed an over all lifestyle change. But, the last two weeks I've really hustled and am super proud of myself. Not only have I lost 11 lbs., but I feel AMAZING. I've never felt so great in my life! Here are the things I'm currently doing:
- 2-3 days in the gym, alternative walking 1 or 1.5 miles or 15 mins. on the treadmill + lifting weights
- Taking multivitamins, fiber, vitamin D supplement, and medicine for hypothyroidism
- Cut sugar, sodas, and eating out of my diet, still have a "cheat day" for a mini soda and pizza on sunday
- Breakfast now includes: steel-cut easy cook oatmeal, raspberries, almonds, greek yogurt, and strawberries
- Lunches are meal prepped salads, with variety and protein!
- Dinners are meal prepped in advance, all crockpot meals from a Weight Watchers crockpot recipe book (so delicious and easy! Also, SURPRISE, this is a cheap way to eat, especially if you limit the meat you eat a week... not ever meal needs meat! Fresh veggies ftw!) [These changes have made meals and working out not take up my whole day, so it's not tiresome to eat right!]
- Watched videos on minimalism, have reorganized and cleaned my whole house, throwing out things that don't "bring me joy"
- Google Calendar + Dry Erase Calendar on my refrigerator to track weekly meals, appointments, work out days, and bills.
- Google Excel sheet on my phone where I track my weight and my work out routine in greater detail. [Very easy to update.]
You don't need to spend extra money on pills, gimicks, or supplements to feel good. Talk to your doctor and follow these easy steps!
