My mother rents a condo unit and before moving in she signed an addendum that stated that the owner was not responsible for the refrigerator and that it was provided as is. If it were to break, the owner was not responsible for repairing or replacing. Well the refrigerator has stopped getting cold and the owner has stated to the rental company that she does not wish to repair it. I want to know what my rights are as far as getting the unit repaired myself. If I spend $300-400 getting it repaired then at that point I would expect to take ownership of the appliance seeing as a couple hundred more and I could buy a refrigerator. The rental company is dragging their feet on getting back to me on this. What are my rights in a situation like this? My mother is in California. Thanks for any help.
