Would not probably work in old construction such as New York, but if you had special additional adaptor plugs for things like a fridge you could shut off all the house in your apartment/house. If everyone is gone what is the point of having wifi on? The adaptor plugs would be essential as my desktop computer crunches numbers while I'm out so that would need to be left on. That nightlight? Not so much.
