Storing fruits and vegetables in the fridge or outside? AskCulinary

I know certain types of fruits and vegetables (ie. bananas, apples, and tomatoes) are better stored at room temperature as opposed to refrigerated. Currently however, I have been storing all fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator, including bananas, but I have noticed some of them getting mushy within a few days (my fridge is set on the coldest setting).

However, it's summer and it gets very hot in my apartment (90+ degrees) during the day, since my apartment kind of traps heat for some reason.

Is it still ok to store fruits (including bananas) at "room temperature" when that room temperature is 90+ degrees, or should they all go in the fridge? Or what is an easy way to create a cooler place to store them in the apartment?

Thanks.
