For the last couple days emails have been going out about cleaning out the office refrigerator. I offered to help as it really was starting to stink. The due date to clean out your junk came this afternoon. Just after quitting time, I went in with a big garbage can and cleaned everything out. Contents went from relatively new bottles of juice to old plastic containers of scary looking stuff. On "office-mate" across the way saw me doing it and said something to the effect of "good job!"
As I was finishing up and was coming back from the parking lot dumpster, I realized I forgot my cell phone in my office and went back in. As I walked into the hall in the front of our building, a different coworker basically said "hey!" And she came at me yelling saying fucking this and that and she was going to charge me for the things I threw out. As I walked toward the break room, the mad person said "'office-mate" said you threw out my things!"
So basically "office-mate" cheered me on, then when I left and someone flipped out, "office-mate" told angry coworker who did it. She threw me under the bus.
I'm angry now and feel like retaliating but feel like I should seek advice. Am I wrong for being upset with her? Does she go in the box of people that I just check off my list of associates? Did she just say what happened and doesn't have an culpability? Any thoughts?
