New home: Refrigerator is tripping GFCI. HomeImprovement

We were told by the electricians that wired our house that GFCI is required for every conduit in the kitchen, including the one that services the refrigerator. After purchasing a brand new refrigerator and plugging it in, our GFCI breaker is being tripped about every 10 minutes of usage. I've read that this shouldn't be the case for any refrigerator manufactured within the last ~10 years (accuracy of this, I'm not sure).

The refrigerator is currently pulled out to ensure it isn't touching anything metal, including the water line for the ice maker in the back and the problem persists. Is this usual, and if so has anyone had this issue and a solution to it? Is the electricians interpretation of the code accurate (located in GA)? Thanks for the help guys.
