Desperately seeking substitute ingredients & guidance for the replicating following recipe, which would eject me forcefully from ketosis. (Estimated 1595g of carbs!) I'd kind of like to do a trial run with almond flour and stevia, but I'm especially stumped on a substitute for the Karo syrup and a little unsure of how the almond flour absorption might compare to white flour.
1-cup evaporated milk, 2 cups dark Karo syrup, 3 cups white sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp cardamom, ¼ tsp. Cloves, ¼ tsp allspice, ½ tsp ginger, 1 tsp salt, 2 sticks butter, 8 – 12 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powder,
Boil milk and syrup; pour over spices, sugar and butter. Put this mixture in refrigerator over night. Next day add flour and baking powder gradually.
Bake 350 degrees about 10 - 11 minutes
This makes hard little bite-sized cookies that our family has always called peppernuts. (Edited for formatting.)
