Shouldn't all published, written material, reference previously written subject-matter that defines ALL its vocabulary and esoteric terms? Showerthoughts

Shouldn't all published, written material, reference previously written material that defines ALL its vocabulary and esoteric terms? Currently, the writer's foot notes or basic references seem to be full of materials they themselves feel are important...which is kinda subjective.

Last night I was looking for anyway to quiet my refrigerator noise and Google spit out a research paper titled, "Research on Electromagnetic Noise of Rotary Compressor for Household Refrigerator". I thought to myself..."I'll never understand this crap BUT, I'm bored." Guess what, I didn't get far in the paper.

I got lost in the interesting esoteric terms which I wanted to better understand, such as "...rotor-bridge..." Rotor-bridge, I'm sure some know or can infer what it is from reading more...but, not everyone is going to fully understand what it is.

What if every word or esoteric term HAD to be defined somewhere in the reference material or the book/paper wouldn't be published? If every word can be defined by the dictionary then that may be solely referenced for this purpose.

Think about how much more we could all learn if the information was linear in that way. For example, a young person with a library card could start reading about algebra and over years of study could learn everything through discrete mathematics, without much guided course of study, with how linearly everything would be defined.

EXAMPLE:

"I studied, linear algebra in college. The material was difficult but I studied hard everyday. The night of my final exam my buddies and I got crunked."

REFERENCES:

  • Merriam-Webster: Dictionary and Thesaurus
  • Urban Dictionary: Freshest Street Slang Defined
  • Linear Algebra and Its Applications, 4th Edition

...of course all these references would have their own references and so on.
